*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

bingo. exactly what i do as well, and it makes texting nearly instantaneous on the e71. no lag, 1 button press, and SEND. i'm worried i'll be going thru crazy menus on the touch version just to send texts. damn i should have thought things thru a little more before buying that 5800 yesterday...

I think it's also because there was never any leak of the phone before it was announced. I know it was on the roadmap that leaked all over the interwebs and Engadget likes to boast that they did unveil it before Nokia (only cuz they got called out at Nokia World) but honestly, there were no spy shots of an unknown prototype, no details (because based on the roadmap, who really knew we were gonna get a tilt touchscreen device with hidden QWERTY keyboard, widgets, 32GB, 5MP camera, blah blah blah) and when they announced it we were all wetting ourselves with anticipation...or was that just me? LOL

Depends on who you ask, but you know what I would say.

You need to figure it out for yourself. All I'm saying is if your expectations are a touch N95 without 3D acceleration or really any gaming capability because that screen resolution is simply not capable of being driven by the hardware in that phone in a game.

Have you ever wanted a big screen N95? - for $700 it's yours later this year.

The interface is bear it or hate it kind of thing. I know many bear it for $250, but I wonder how many expect the same for $700. I guess you need to try it. The S60v5 thing has been very polarizing.

Not sure who or what this blog is but found via google:

this is an "update" although it is undated:
Update: NOMNOMN97 from N97 Geeks managed to talk with a representative at Nokia regarding his new charges. Where they legit or just an error in the system? the representive was quoted as saying "this is the sign that they're getting ready to ship your order and that this time, the charges will stick to your account".

Again, this isn't concrete evidence but I'm getting more excited as the evidence stacks up.

Not sure about the website n97geeks.com either. Just more propoganda!

That's not due to the resistive screen. That's due to the fact that the page is still loading and the processor is tied up rendering the page. Same thing happens on current Nokia devices with a D-pad, no scrolling using the D-pad until the processor has recovered from the page rendering.

I know many here want to jump on the "bash resistive screen" bandwagon but think about it a bit before making incorrect comments.
