*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I believe that to be the case..however trying to type an email or text in portrait on the numeric keypad using T9 is probably going to be tedious at best

Its ok man, it's gonna be ok...
Denial is the most predictable of all human responses.
You have to think ahead of the possibilities (You might even get it in August, god forbids...lol)

A little unfair, wouldn't you say? I've always felt that the guys at All About Symbian, and Steve Litchfield in particular, were always impartial and independent in their reviews.
What I feel is that Steve, like some members of this board, is a little disappointed with what the N97 could have been.

That is not happening anytime soon. Do you have any ideas how many BILLIONS they will need to spend in order to upgrade all of their *physical" equipment ALL over the country?? Bell And Telus will team up that's for sure, they are using the technology dinosaurs had (yes dinosaurs had cell phones but they didn't have sim cards). CDMA represents like what, 10% of the global telecommunications industry? If they want to survive, they need to convert to GSM. But that is not happening overnight. And by the time it will, Rogers will be at 4G (While Japan will be at 5G and Europe at 4.5G... you know how much us north americans are :P)

The most notable non-Nokia is certainly going to be the iPhone, but to keep this relevant...

The E61 was updated with the E61i, the N93 with the N93i. In similar practice, Nokia has been releasing Euro versions of their devices in the US months before the proper NAM versions are released (5800XM, N95, E71, N79, N85, among others).

What makes this year more of a gamble is that Nokia never did anything with the N96. It was just a failship through and through and they didn't even bother giving it any hardware upgrades.

So which is worse? Releasing the proper version of a flagship device months after the original is released, or not bothering until it's time for next year's flagship?

Pretty poor, though I hear you can add your own custom keyboards into Windows Mobile to fix this. I haven't used it, so I wouldn't know.

On the OmniaHD, however, reports have been fantastic about the full screen QWERTY on the huge capacitive screen. I haven't used this either though, and I felt neutral about using it on my 5800XM, so we'll see.

Either way, it has nothing to do with the N97.
