*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

If this is the second time in a row you've gotten an unnecessary critical remark, might I suggest you stop posting. LOL

Guesstimate? WTF is a guesstimate? Why would I take a shot in the dark at what CPU is in the phone? First of all, I don't care. It could have a 486 CPU in it and I'll still buy it. Second of all, Nokia hasn't announced the CPU yet for a reason and whatever that reason is, it's probably a good one for them so I don't need to speculate. And lastly, I DON'T CARE!

Is it June yet?

That's what I'm talking about, many people only talks like if it's the worst device of the history, for me it looks like it will fill my needs perfectly, I like my N82 but was looking for a bigger screen with touch capabilities, and having tried HTC Touch HD didn't liked WinMo, now with iPhone although I enjoy the experience I find myself looking for something more cause it has too many weakness and restrictions (I feel like Apple is the more restrictive company in this area), and just now appears N97 like an excellent option to fill my needs and I'm sure I can't be the only one in this situation. The only other option I can see for me would be an Android device with AT&T 3G and it doesn't exist at this moment so I'll stick with the N97 option :)

It is that price on nokiausa right now. 525 plus shipping and tax.

Why do they charge tax? I thought the law was that they can only charge you state tax if they had a bricks and mortar store in the state you live in?

You're right. I just remembered Eldar's recent video clearly showing it off. I don't remember where I read that they removed it, but I'm glad they didn't.

...some delicious crow.

I'm not looking forward to what Handy Shell will do to this phone. Hopefully nothing LOL.

Now tell me this, who already knows which 6 widgets they're gonna use primarily on their homescreen besides me?

Just one comment. Don't blame the resistive screen. There are good resistive screens in the world. Just not this one. The software behind is what causes the multiple attempts to get a response.

On other devices the screen does not show anything until the phone is ready to accept input on this one it just doesn't really tell you when its ready. So you will keep trying and then you might accidentally double tap something when you meant to single tap. Stuff like that. Check out a 5800 and see for yourself.

Why is it amazing? If the platform supports gaming then it's a criteria to be judged. Are you saying only the older people are playing games and the younger people don't? Personally I'm looking forward to a Quake port. :D

I think you're confused on what haptic touch is.

The 5800 and N97 are haptic touch phones. The phone vibes when you touch the screen to confirm a command is entered.

I don't think the type of "haptic" touch technology you think exist. I remember reading an article on touch technology where the screen would protrude like 1mm so you can actually hear the click of a real button when pressed. That's not yet available on the market and is also haptic touch. That will probably be like 2nd generation technology when it becomes available to the public.

I hope it make sense. You can visit the official haptic touch tech website below:

Kinda silly to include a stylus in the box but now have a place to keep it on the phone. Personally I'm hoping to not need the stylus. Maybe they expect to hang it off the lanyard...

Yeah, I was a bit concerned from Eric's comments that it might not be fixed for the first units.

Phew. :D

I definitely want that article to get their translation treatment.

Very nice. That's a great option to have. I was thinking they wouldn't ship to the US since most US companies don't ship to CND and there are plenty of posts from the Canadians wishing they could get our phone prices and shipping.

Either way, be strong. Hold out for the 16GB version. :buddies:
