*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Yeah I'll try doing all my music eventually, trying get my contacts right now. Touch screen is very responsive. The scrolling is ok. Might take some getting used to. So far Im very impressed. Just set up my Gmail with no issues at all.

Is that why my tummy hurts now? :hehehe:

In all seriousness, I'm sick of using the loaner I have ( Samsung SGH-a737) and REALLY want my N97 to be here, like yesterday!!!

EDIT: also, kinda bummed about sumthing...
wjy do I have to remove the back cover to access the memory card? Especially since The N95 and N96 had memory card doors on the side

Definitely a reason I'm not sad to see a relatively thicker phone. In fact, I'd like to see one that takes a 2-3" diameter area and devote it to optical zoom and xenon flash.

That'd be on my wishlist for N97-2 or N98 or whatever before they did anything with a new CPU, anyways. ;)

I haven't seen this posted, but does anyone here follow bestofsymbian on twitter? There's a post with a screenshot showing warehouse locations for the usa. It shows orders taken so far and incoming shipments. And it has the shipment dates. The post title is "bad news for n97 usa" and all dates listed are 6-29 and 7-01.

Has this been covered? It looks like a legit screenshot from an internal database of some sort. I can grab the pic if needed.

*yawn* I think this thread is seeing its last days. I hope shortly after I get back I'll be posting in the Reviews, Tips, Tricks thread.

P.S. Didn't I reach 3000 posts like just 2 months ago or so? I almost hit 4000 before the N97 was even released. Can you tell I'm excited about this thing or what?

P.P.S. Is it June yet?

same old issues that have been mentioned many times. The app is just outdated and clunky.

exchange support
HTML email (without opening a silly attachment)
constant freezing

those are my main three issues. everything else is just nitpicky stuff.

I wouldn't go that far. The 5800 costs $239 now and the iPhone markets outside the US costs up to $1000. In all cases at least double the 5800's cost.

Instead, I guess it just devalues the company and associates the Nokia name with cheap stuff. So now they have the N97 that is the "high-end" S60v5.

Now watch the fun when people who paid $700 for this thing discover what's up. :hehehe:

wait for the 2nd gen N97 with a NEW FIXED keyboard and it will be U$200 cheaper by then, and you will not feel like a beta tester that has to pay U$700 to be a beta tester!

Since you mentioned North America, I can only speak for the US...

Correct me if I'm wrong Canadians... Rogers only uses 850mhz 3G right? No 1900?

If you bring it to the US and use it with AT&T I'm pretty sure you will be able to use 3G on the N97 on places with 1900mhz 3G..

Such as Major Cities like NY, CHI, LA, etc..

Also AT&T's 3G is HSDPA so you will be able to utilize that as well on the N97..

Yes, I think I was probably the 1st person on this thread to post I pre-ordered and it's a "Back-Order."

So you need not worry that you're on the very end of a waiting list.
