*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

The exact same thing happened to me (you can read a few posts back). Did you pre-order it during their glitch (I did)? I was wondering if they're doing this on purpose (wrong expiration dates) to cancel those few who got the glitch price.

i dont like the iphone's "standard" looking screen, as in 4:3 ratio. the n97 and 5800 are more widescreen format, 16:9 ratio. just looks FABULOUS for web browsing in comparison.

I have a friend who lives in Finland and works for Nokia (yeah, maybe he's a little biased) and he told me that in the cold weather they have in that country only his Nokia phone would work. None of his other electronics devices, capacitive or resistive or whatever, would work.
If he's telling the truth, if it's so cold that you'd need gloves, capacitive or resistive won't make a difference cause the device won't work altogether if it's not a Nokia.

hard reset completely deletes all your files/data and apps on the phone.

Got my white N97 today for $550. A used one that took a tumble when getting out of the car but still looks very fine :clapping:

Anyone else feel like this page is about to be overrun by N97 threads? I'm not complaining, because I'm also interested in the phone, but good luck trying to discuss any other phones over the next few weeks.

I would like to ask a question to those who own(ed) the 5800-from what I see with the N97, the lock slider is extremely important. What is the verdict on it's durability?

Agree about the screen ratio, but I must admit it makes for better "phone shaped" devices.

The resolution is very nice beating the iPhone badly everything is crystal clear, but no portrait QWERTY. That's bad. I don't like having to turn the phone.

Mini QWERTY is impossible to use for me. I tried, it's hard even with the stylus.

Yea, I called Brightpoint and had no problems canceling, but they put through another authorization for the amount again when you cancel, so they still hold your money for a few days to a week if you cancel. I will never preorder from Nokia USA again! Good Luck!

It is. If they tell you one thing and it ends up being later, you only get mad that "Nokia told you" etc etc. The people you would call or email aren't in a position to know (or care) anyway.

I don't think any of us are phone designers, but the N810 in my hand with a d-pad and 4-line QWERTY with significantly larger keys still only takes up half of the lower part of the device. I think they were much more interested in aesthetics than performance when they put the whole package together. To say it would've been impossible to maintain its other characteristics is very reaching.

Does anyone recall how many "in the wild" previews were available for n95, e71?
I would be really concerned if we saw no real in depth "in the wild" previews before this thing ships..
