I'm not sure the N97 is for me. I'm skeptical at this point about s60v5 and where it's going. I have a 5800 right now, and I'm actually not a huge fan of it. I do like s60, but you have to do so much to get what you want out of it. I regret getting my sister a 5800; she'll never figure out how to install things on her own to get full use out of it. I should have gotten her a G1 instead. Sigh.
Android is easier to use, no doubt. Myself, I'm missing the experience that I had when I had a BlackBerry Pearl. I've been eyeing the E55, but there isn't much talk about it anymore, and I saw low RAM available after startup. I really love SureType and anything similar, it's the best way to type on a mobile phone, better than a full qwerty IMO.
If I really want the n97, I'm thinking about just waiting for the price to drop. It's already down to 600 on amazon and it's not even out yet. I expect it to reach the 500 dollar price tag soon after its release. And well... even then, is 300 dollars worth bigger scree/32GB/5MP camera from the 5800? Hmm.
Even more, I want to see where Symbian Foundation is going. I just got the freaking 5800, I can handle using this thing for at least another year. Once I've milked it for what it's worth, hopefully Symbian^3 is out, and I can choose a handset that's running something like that. If it's looking grim, I can always switch to Android, which is the runner-up right now my list of OS behind S60 (the gap is getting smaller!).
