And you wanna go 'back in time' to the restrictions of CDMA? Go buy that Pre and be the Pre-ball-&-Chain to the network. Better deals elsewhere, say on AT&T/T-Mobile when that happens ... you'll have a harder time selling it as the months go on no matter how much their in demand. I'll bet CDMA users tend to go on contract more often to get a brand new phone than buy it used and go on a CDMA network.
 
The amount of RAM sounds about right. There's only so much they'll be able to do with v5 and 128mb of RAM, especially with the new software additions/changes.

I'm still hung up on the keyboard. A lot of other people have had the same complaints about it.




I can only insist again that you try the keyboard yourself before you buy. People with really tiny fingers may like it.
 
It's tricky, when you see a comma and a period one on top of the other, you think semi-colon. If this was on one of those brain teaser quizzes where you had to spot which punctuation mark was wrong, a lot of us would have gotten it wrong. (I couldn't find it in the SDK at first)
 
S60 is turning out to be useful only to those who know how to use it better than the people responsible for building it. With problems like these, it's no wonder iPhone converts and general new users have such bad first impressions and never want to bother with it again.
 
I bought the grey one the day it hit Canada, and the white one when it hit Canada. The grey one dropped as early as a month before the white E71-2.
 
Yeah but any tiny P&S in the world can beat the N95 and you know it. My Canon SD300 from 3 years is far smaller than the N95 and is at least 10 times better in real life usage. You press the button it focuses and clicks. Not like the N95 where it lags 2 seconds and then clicks without even telling you at which point it achieved focus lock. Alternatively you could do the half-shutter thing and watch it struggle to find focus in ways that no digital camera not even from 5-6 years ago would struggle and then full click to get that focus. Not to mention you don't even have multipoint focus so you have no idea WTF the thing decided to actually focus on. I could go on and on, but if you're really a photography hobbyist and you are using an N95 as a P&S, I suggest you even pick up a used Canon SD series from 4 years ago of any MP spec as it will be a huge step up in what you can do with it.

MPs don't make a difference but being able to get the shot before the subject goes away or or knowing what object in the frame your camera focused on are important pieces of information that you need for creative reasons. Even the simple ability to do an exposure lock is not there in the N95.

I consider the N95 camera to be useful in a pinch and for simple documentation type imaging in business situations and maybe a daylight architecture shot or portrait for lack of having a real camera. It is really useless for doing anything creative beyond playing with different framing techniques on still landscapes or objects. Even for evening indoor pictures it disappoints with heavy noise and inadequate flash. If people want a camera/phone get that new Casio for a P&S camera + phone tacked on. Otherwise I just consider these "cameras" on these phones be little imaging toys.
 
The network needs to support it too. AT&T has started to upgrade to 7.2 but it won't be finished soon. You'll probably see next year's iPhone before you see 7.2 HSDPA go live in your area.



Even now, AT&T throttles a lot of 3G traffic down to 1.8mbps and you'll rarely get close to that with the large strain on the network now that everyone has an iPhone 3G.

So no, right now, 7.2mbps is still just a number in the US.
 
N96 saw lots of... withdrawl... N85 was lower price point and target demographic while N82 was focused on the camera. Wouldn't surprise me, but the FM transmitter would also indicate them looking at other methods of car integration ( for example).
