*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

You're assuming you know everything. Again.

In any case, I honestly don't care if the N97 is pushed back because I won't be getting it until it's at least two FW updates deep anyway (if at all).

I've thought the same thing looking at it as well. It almost doesn't look real and then they interact with the screen. Can't wait to see one in person. Maybe those that have seen them can comment on the screen brightness/clarity compared to other phones they had with them?

What I liked about this vid was that the phone was clean. All the smudges from trade shows are a bit distracting.

EDIT: And it was black, not brown. ;)

My TV, my DVD player and my satellite dish receiver. Hence why I wish the N97 had it, it would be able to completely replace my E71 and I could still call it an upgrade.

with the exception of email, I almost like everything about the N97. I totally feel your gripe with email and I still can't begin to understand Nokia's reasoning in putting such a crappy email application on what is supposed to be a high end phone. That said, it is a very well rounded device and i've got it tweaked enough to keep me happy for a couple weeks at least. I don't think it's good enough to unseat the iPhone 3GS as my main device once the newness wears off.

I was underwhelmed by the N85, so I hope the N86 is something more than an N85 with an ugly paint job and an 8MP wide-angle camera strapped on the back.

loll, ahhh, what a relieve. I misread that article, I guess he meant it can't play those files straight out of the box. Alright, I'm back in love with the N97 :)

A couple pages back, I posted the article that says it is now Nokia's official policy to not answer any questions regarding certain hardware in this phone, not even entertain them as a matter of fact.

N78->N79
N85->N86

I don't have the exact dates, but the N78 to N79 was really quick. As for the N85, I got mine in January when the prices fell and the N86 euro is shipping already.

PS: Nokia, where's my N97? I want to RMA my N85 so you can fix: 1. The phone speaker. 2. The crack under the d-pad. 3. The wobbly slidder 4. The sitff buttons.

There sure is a lot to consider when contemplating a higher end phone..but part of the comparison with the Omnia & the 97 are the companies behind the phone..with all the complaints of Nokia's customer service, I'll take the reliability (generally speaking) of a Nokia, based on my experience with the 95 and a few others, than a Samsung hands down. I'm not sure I'd plunk 6 or 7 benjamins on a Samsung product, regardless of the specs at this time

Indeed. I love my grandfathered voice plan and have no complaints at all about the service, but think I'm almost certainly going to jump ship for the AT&T 3G. T-Mo is being... unkind about being restricted to EDGE with anything with a QWERTY (paying more than AT&T's unlimited 3G plan).

i think last year you were only allowed to open them on new lines. i think upgrade eligibility was allowed shortly after. or i may be confused. like you said, you definitely couldn't buy it outright in the beginning, you had to open a new line to get it.

regardless, I won't be getting one. didn't plan on it anyway.
