*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

No, no one's saying that, but everyone's willing to lay down for Nokia because they used the old stuff in the N97, and even say that they should NOT have used anything faster, even though other manufacturers are using it, some with the same software!

I'm not asking anyone to cancel their preorders and I'm not asking anyone to buy anything else. All I'm asking is for you to man up and admit that Nokia should have done better. Because if we don't, then there's no reason for Nokia to not do the same thing next year.

I'm in Atlanta. You have to keep your gun with you when you go to the bathroom in your own house.

You misunderstood what I was saying. You can write your own widget to show three things in the space of one widget:

[ Current Weather | Google Stock Price | Terrorist Alert Color ]

I could write that in two hours. If there is a demand for different widgets, the demand will be filled. Even if the height and width of each widget 'parking space' is pre-determined, there are no rules about what can go in it. The only one you have to keep the same is apparently the clock/date/time widget.

Also, for all of you who are having so much trouble with the 5800, I don't get it. You must have weird fingers. It's been said before by lots of people. I use the web, search, menus, scrolling, full-screen and alphanum keypads on my 5800 all the time with ZERO difficulty. I don't have to touch multiple times to get it to register. I don't have to push extra hard or extra soft. I don't have issues with scroll bars. I don't think I'm Superwoman. I don't think I'm smarter or more agile with my fingers than the average person. Have you considered the fact that maybe you have a defective phone (or hand or something)? It's not a universal experience, I can tell you that.

bro 5 mega pix has become sub-standard nowadays. omnia hd got 8 megapix. 2 other samsung models have been released in last month got 8 megapix. samsung i8510 INNOV8 got megapix. these cams not only got higher megapix but review shows that they r good as well. so adding both features i can say they r better cams than n97 will have.

I got a chance to play with the N97 a week ago and I grew to like it a lot.

There's definitely something wrong with the performance of the phone in the proto

Black is definitely better looking than the white in person

Exactly! The problem is that is still 3-4 weeks or so from now under the best of circumstances..so a lot of bickering left to be done! I'm looking forward to getting it in my hands so I can form my own opinion..I'll be back then to these forums.

Apple always does incremental upgrades though. The 3G was nothing more than a 3G radio, non ****** headphone jack and better gps.

I wasn't expecting that much from this release I was actually surprised that the video was 30fps vga but if the ram wasn't increased there's no point in upgrading for me.

Really though..if the iPhone could manage music without having to rely on iTunes i think I wouldn't give S60 a second glance until symbian^4 comes out.

Some interesting things I read in that review ...

So it seems this review seems to know/speculate that an OMAP CPU is in use. This is interesting.

Actually thus far its the only review smart or careless enough to post photos with benchmark installed. So I'm inclined to be more hopeful that an OMAP cpu is used in the N97 - I'll cream if its the 3530/3450 or anything in the 3400 series.

Thought the processor was clocked at 434 MHz on the N97.

EDIT: Maybe Nokia's devices could benefit from CPU scaling. The processors aren't too power hungry when they don't need to be but have that extra juice on reserve when needed(video playback gaming, etc.).
