*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

You really didn't understand my post at all.

We physically CAN'T see what benefits better hardware would have had in the N97 because IT DOESN'T HAVE THE HARDWARE. And to make it worse, none of you are willing to ask for it, when everyone else is delivering it without needing to be asked.

I thought I'll share this since a lot of you here might be 5800 owners. I recently updated my 5800 and I noticed that in my application folder i have an icon called "app update" which basicly checks for updates on the current apps in your phone similar to what the iphone does. I was really excited to see that. I dont know if any of you noticed that.

I can't agree with you there, though everything else is spot on. AT&T doesn't cripple the phone...Apple has done it for you!

Though, I must say they are really listening to what consumers want their phone to be able to do and opening it up a bit more.

But as long as people are unlocking any brand phone for the simplest of things, I consider the phone crippled.

Now that I have an unlocked phone, I don't think I am going to get into another contract with AT&T unless it is for some huge savings or something.

But never just for a phone.

The euro version has hsdpa on the 1900mhz band, which is used in north america. With that said, I read in the rogers forum that rogers only uses 850mhz for 3G, so it wouldn't work

I could see them not giving the 5800 all the extra features. I keep forgetting that it's supposed to be a mid-tier phone. I'm guessing that if they did ever give an update with this stuff in it, it wouldn't be until a bit after the release of the N97...they wouldn't want to damper the sales or anything.

When did I ever say that anyone can't afford the phone? When did I ever say anyone was jealous? I never belittled or insulted anyone who didn't insult me first and I don't care if you guys have differing opinions, that's what HoFo is for. I didn't have praise for the S60 browser, I said that I don't experience the problems that you guys brought up then it was explained that is because I browse Mobile sites, understood. I asked a general question on why the CPU is such a disappointment because I didn't understand what the big deal is. Don't twist my words around and don't put words into my mouth Marc.

It's no secret why I want this device, I just don't need 3000 words to express it. I like it, I like what I've seen of it, it meets my needs, I'm going to buy it as soon as it's available because I want it that much. You guys keep asking the same question over and over again but you refuse to believe that the answer is that simple. I want it, so I'll buy it. You can insult and attack me all you want to try and change my mind but you don't **** when I eat so catch all the feelings you want Marc.

I want the phone for whatever reasons, you don't want the phone for whatever reasons. Let's agree to disagree.

I'm interested to know if the screen is plastic or glass. If it's plastic then we'll have to use a screen protector, and on a big screen like that it's very hard to apply the protector without dust particles getting in between. I like the phone so far but the keyboard design is a little toyish for my taste. It reminds me of some of the keyboards on the cheap phones that AT&T carries.

Don't feed the trolls. Getting my wifi working was a peace of cake. I use it just about every night and haven't had any issues beyond the first day when I figured out to not leave the wifi in the "Unassigned" Destination and properly set the priority.

Actually I don't like that implementation that much, might be I'm more a typist. It's like taking out the keys while you're typing on a keyboard, rather than knowing where each key is on the keyboard, everytime I have to find where the new location of the next character I have to type.

Notice that nothing about the CPU or the Mobo has been officially announced about what the N97 used? Mobo's can be changed in a heartbeat - sure if its less than 3mths from production or just after a failed FCC then it causes small delays but can be done as mobo's are prefabed according to engineering specs & layouts for ports - Celestica is one such major Mobo manufacturer that Dell/HP outsources too (or used to).
