*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Ovi Store is more of a big deal toward dumb phones (s40).

Just hack your phone and goto mobilesmania.com and download all the stuff you want and not pay a single penny.

Don't get mad get "smart."

I'm most likely going to buy a new iPhone and take the AT&T 3G plan and use it on my N97. I will then sell said new and unspoiled iPhone for as much as an iFanBoy will let me. :D Proceeds make my n97 even cheaper. Everyone wins here except maybe T-mobile.

There's a small chance I'll avoid that and stay EDGE, but looking increasingly unlikely. Way faster data when I'm not in wifi versus superior grandfathered voice plan. I have probably two months to ponder it. :)

The E90 has five rows of keys, not counting the shortcuts row. And the spacebar (which is the size of four regular letter keys) is comfortably placed in the middle of the bottom row. The problem with the E90 keyboard is that it's too wide and demands too much thumb travel.

OmniaHD doesn't have a NAM model and people who want an N97 want it for much different reasons than people who want an OmniaHD, only 30,000 people will get a Palm Pre because Palm and Sprint don't understand the concept of supply and demand (and that's only in the US, it's not coming out anywhere else remember?), new iPhone will be an iPhone 3G with 16GB or 32GB and 3.0 (are iPhone 3G owners really going to flock to buy this thing in droves?) and it probably won't be released until mid-July at the earliest. Who's leaving this in the dust when it's already been 6 months since it was first announced

I'm sorry to tell you, but despite LEAP being on the N97 spec sheet I would be EXTREMELY surprised if you actually got it to work.

In fact I challenge everyone here to help this man get his Wi-Fi working.

When they fail, try forum nokia, that is your last resort.

Anyway try moving it priority one and see if it works. If it does you are very lucky.

Although Rogers initially launched HSPA on 1900mhz only, they've since transitioned to 850mhz for HSPA now in most areas.

There's no 1900mhz 3G in the GTA (Toronto).

Where are you using the N85 and getting 3G reception?

I bet my trigger finger is quicker than yours and my site is locked. As shorty once said in the 80's "who wants buckshot!" hehe. Kidding but if that happened teaming up would be best bet for both of us to get in under 100 - or teargas ;) .

How many of your friends have a PS3? How many FutureShop (Canada) or BestBuy stores are in your vicinity in NYC? You'll find a cable for under $10 at BestBuy or similar mega store - even a PC store will have them. They're more common than you might think in the western world in mega cities.

You don't need it to charge from your laptop if you don't want. There is still wall chargers with the same MicroUSB port for that N97, N85, N86 and E75 - but the latter its disabled in initial firmware I've heard in a review.

If our power grids where developed by Telsa long ago ... I could only imagine about wireless power online and such. Crazy guy but brilliant.[yes he did work for westinghouse eventually but not all his ideas where implemented or used]

So let me ask you have they improved on the 5mp camera since the n95-1 is the n85 greater or the n79 or the n96 i dont think so. :buddies:

I posted this info before. Nokia will usually have their own roadmap in mind for when they want to release a device, but they don't give out a date in the very likely event that they aren't able to meet that date. With the N97 as an example, they can announce a 1H09 time frame with a tentative date to release being somewhere between April and May. Rather than be forced to rush a device and get it out by that date, they can push it all the way back to the very end of their projected launch to fix unexpected problems or further refine the software.

It's a great idea, in theory, except that those of us who are familiar with launch devices know that even with all that time they used to finalize the devices, they still come out very rushed.

Personally? I'd love for them to release a device with a specific date with what they would consider "pre-production" firmware, and then consistently update the firmware. It'd be the same experience we see now, except we'd have a definitive date on when to expect the device.

July? now that is BS it keeps getting worse and worse. Seems like i have been waiting on this phone for a year now. :crying: hell i just ordered a nokla for the hell of it lol
