I'm impressed the Iphone 3G S also supports 7.2 Mbps HSDPA as opposed to 3.6 Mbps for the N97. I was really hoping for the faster speed support on the Nokia
 
Yeah I hear that. The part about the phone addiction :hehehe: Cause thats my problem, as I have a hard time passing up something that looks good. I'm thinking the N97 may be my one purchase for the year. That screen size is just huge for a nokia phone. Sort of unprecedented for them. Not to mention touch. I like the idea of full hard kb also to go with the touch screen. Pick it up mid summer maybe. Perfectly timed for a road trip. :cool:

i forwarded it consumer affairs as well as nokia corporate...received a call from corporate a week after that consumerist post and was formally apologized to ;) i think nokia will honors these preorders as they dont want another fiasco on their hands a month after the last one i stirred up.

I never said the N95 had a bad browser. It's really capable but it's still slow. The N97's browser looks to be the same.

How is the 5800's browsing experince better than the N95? I'll give you resolution, but scrolling is a pain in the ***, and things like zooming are more complicated than they should be. I also don't like the fact that to having the side menu open takes up almost a fourth of the screen. Zooming in by double tapping doesn't resize what you've tapped on to fit the screen like it does on the N95 and the iPhone, so you end up side scrolling. Don't even get me started on clicking small links/links in clusters.

We'll see if there's minute software tweaks compared to the 5800's implementation but I'm pretty sure it's going to perform the same, as it has the same processor and same amount of ram. I'm happy they added kinetic scrolling which will help a lot but I would've like to see it on the rest of the device.

S60 in its current state is a button OS, not a touch OS, no matter how much it wants to be one.

Sorry but i just don't understand what you are saying as that is just not my experience at all let me explain it to you. Now for as long as it has been out Outlook has been my PIM of choice on my Computer and i had always synced my Calendar from my devcie to it. But with the number of entries i have the BB software was very slow my one and only compliant about my BB by the way.

As we are entering 2009 i decided that the Cloud was going to start playing a bigger part in some of our lives so decided to sign up for both a Gmail account which i currently don't use 3 E-Mail accounts is more than enough for me alreday but to also try Google Sync as an alternative to getting my PIM data onto my Computer and into Outlook.

I haven't seen a single advert anywhere whilst setting up and using the Sync service and all i do now is everyday or couple of days choose Sync now from the Google Sync app and all my PIM data is transferred to my Google Calendar. Then again every few days or so i select Google Calendar Sync on my Laptop and all PIM information is synced with Outlook. I don't sync my contacts all the time as they rarely change. I don't Sync my E-Mails as they are all Web based services so are always stored and available from any device or computer anywhere.

The vital point is it doesn't really matter which devcie i choose next i will still be able to use the same system as i do now by just installing one app to my device and i am free to choose the devcie i want and not restricted by the fear of losing services i rely on and therefore tied to one manufacturer as they want me to be. Can you really say using OVI and Nokia Mail is a better solution and doesn't restrict you to only staying with a Nokia device despite the fact there may well be a better device out there for you? if so how can that be a good idea then? It seems very counter prouductive to me and not in my best intrests at all although it is of course in Nokia's isn't it?
