*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

^Yea i was gonna say, doesn't the N97 keyboard have a PERIOD button? Pressing one button seems faster than press another TWICE.

edit: it seems as if you will have to hit the shift key to enter a "."

as do we all, hey does anybody else have any new hands on videos taking recently (not easily accessed by google search)?
i think i have seen every hands on nokia 97 there is.
its sad that there is that amount of joy i have in finding a new one, like when gwapz and the others were able to play with an upgraded product the other day, that really made my day.

^ agreed. although there are supposed to be several hardware upgrades to the 3g version, but only the camera has been revealed thus far.

Yes he found it hilarious because he likes being an %$# to anyone who doesnt love the n97 or mentions any other phone in this thread.

You're right. Combined with the fact that xda-developers is an unsupported channel for operating system updates (thus bypassing licensing entirely and going directly into development), Apple manufacturing their own devices (thus straight into development), and Google being just good like that and being closely linked with its OS improvement throughout its range, you've just proven to me that once the next big thing hits Symbian Foundation the Nokia N97 will most definitely not be a product to receive the benefits.

The truth is quite frankly that their care is minimal. As you've proven, they're a business first and foremost. Nokia is out there for revenue and market penetration (although it doesn't make the profits of other companies). The consumer's interest is among the least important factors of their operations and decisions.

You probably don't know much about Chinese input methods.
There are many input methods using QWERTY keyboard and some use only numeric keypad.

I think it's good for N97 to include a stylus. On such high resolution but relatively small screen, sometimes it's easier to use a stylus, e.g. on the web browser without zooming in to enlarge the tiny links.

I know some iphone users who sometimes wish they can use a stylus.

I used Ovi sync with my E51 and when I lost it I got the 5800 and synced with Ovi. Normally I would have transferred between the 2 phones using blue tooth but since I lost
the E51 I used Ovi. The problem was that I hadn't used Ovi for some time and some of my contacts on the E51 wasn't synced to Ovi so I didn't get all of them. Otherwise it went smooth.

I also have an N93i, no 850 = no signal in some area, I'm not talking about just rural area, but some popular residential area in East LA.
While having 850 on N95-3, I had sent email with 3G up in the mountain of nowhere (with AT&T).
I definitely will not get another phone without 850.

Not buying Apple's hype and suggest you don't either. Their gaming is peanuts compared to real gaming, which is what I'll always prefer.

Even so, PSP and DSi will always trump the entire cell phone market combined, at least for the near and intermediate future.

The only real hit that Nokia should be given is on the RAM, since there's not really any good excuse to not go with 256. I think of numerous reasons why staying with a tried and proven processor would be preferable to using your flagship to test on guinea pigs.

You know what's silly bro? Two years of work on that STM platform to bring us the N96.

What do you have to say about that. A whole new ****ing platform to bring us ONE phone that nobody liked.

How do you explain that in terms of utilization of design resources?

As a happy 5800 user, i was hoping the n97 keyboard was decent, would you say its at least usable? The description reminds me of the "tmobile G1" keyboard i hope its nothing like that

WM most certainly does support capacitive touch screens. Maybe not officially OOtB, but WM6.1 can run just fine under the hood of a capacitive-screen device.

The same bodes for multi-touch. It can be implemented just fine on resistive screens once the proper drivers and calculations/algorithm are used for multiple plots.
