*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Without a doubt. I have bought and sold lots of phones here on HoFo BST and on eBay, and they have all pretty much brought what they were supposed to because they were almost as nice if not as nice as new when I retired them. I am totally anal about my phones, and can't see why anybody would spend $500-600 on a phone only to ruin it with nicks and scratches fro carrying it in their pockets with keys and change... :rolleyes:

My phones spend the majority of the time they're not being used in a leather belt-clip pouch...or in a silicone skin if I have to pocket them in shorts or whatever. And then...the pocket is phone-exclusive.

I'm sorry...I just have to add my 2 cents to this thread...

I just got my E71-2 trial from WOMWorld and I have to say...

OH MY GOD !!!!

This is an awesome device....the thinness, the metal, did I say the thinness? ;)

I'll post my impressions at my blog, but as of right now, I'm thinking of switching from the N95-4. This thing seems like a better fit for me.

Thought if it's only fp1 as it has been said it might be available fast it wouldnt be first time when they do that....or am i just trying to convince my self :D

Is it possible to set the "new message" directly with the number you always want to sms?
For example, I would like to preset a button to always create a sms with the "To:" always with the same person..
Anybody tried this before?

well thats what it comes down to. whats best for YOU. I went from a -4 to a N82 and not a e71.

the keyboard is amazing, having 3G, and much faster OS trumps the quality multimedia fuctions of the -4/n82

again, these are opinions :2thumbs:

fredyoon.... I dont mean to pick on you, but this is exactly my point on why Nokia needs to support BBC on this device. In the end their little spat will cost them sales, and not cause corporations to ditch the BES environment in lieu of the Nokia Intellisync soltution.

I dont know of any solution without using BB connect. You could try downloading the E90 version and testing it, but as far as I have heard, it does not work.

This is from Nokia's site for the E71:

Operating frequency

* E71-1 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 900/2100 HSDPA
* E71-2 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/1900 HSDPA
* E71-3 Quad-band EGSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/2100 HSDPA

Its Nokia's fault to begin with. After the 6600, 6620, the 6682 was a pure joke, they didn't do enough to give AT&T what they needed. The N75 was a good phone, hardware wise but AT&T wanted branding and Nokia being difficult took forever to give them that, also AT&T was just being the thorn in their side. Dead relationsip really.

This in no way affects Nokia's E-Series phones which are marketed for business/Professional users.

Can someone help me?

I've downloaded the province's map to my friend's E71, but I can't seem to get Nokia Maps to work. I thought the E71 was supposed to be able to use downloaded maps for free?

Thanks.

I am this close to buying the E-71. The one thing that I hate is having to choose between NA 3g and rest of world 3g. I cross the pound a great deal and this may be a deal breaker for me. Why can't Nokia match Apple, the BJ II, and the Bold and give us triband 3g?
