*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

im considering an e71. how does the native email client work with hotmail? As well as winows mobile? Where if I get an email to my hotmail account, usually within a few minutes it would show up on my winmo phone. Will s60, and the e71 do this for me?

on the screensaver? Not sure....you can use remind me, which will beep or make a sound/flash a light every so many seconds/minutes until you see there is a missed call.

just played with my friend's e71. first time ever playing with it. i was absolutely surprised at how slim and small this phone is. i really thought it was going to be much bigger.

happily, i will be receiving this phone in the mail in a couple days as i just ordered it for 300 bucks on amazon. i figured the advantages of getting the e72 wasn't worth paying an extra 150 or waiting another 1-2 months for the release. the form factor is the biggest thing for me, and there simply isn't another phone out there as slim or small as this phone.

i really hope the sound quality is good, as i can be finicky about audio quality. then again, i also use a ipod shuffle and think that's quite alright.

slick looking, slim, small - check
wifi- check
free gps - is this available?
music - check
keyboard - check

thank god i finally could decide on a new phone...

I'd go with the E71...small screen yes, but it's got everything the E90 has including a 3.2 auto cam and GPS, but in a svelt package....don't know if you watch movies on your phone, but other than that I can't see much benefits of E90 vs E71.

My 2 cents: :)

E70/N80: 2.2? = too small

N73/N75: 2.4? = smallish

N95-1/N95-3: 2.6? = ideal

N95 8GB/E61i: 2.8? = very nice

Experia: 3?? = very, very nice

Iphone= Excellent

I got my e71 in yesterday. I did not do a firmware upgrade or hard reset. I just charged it and went to reading the manual.

ATT Internet set up right away and it detected my home WLAN right away. GPS locked on to satellites in about 30 seconds indoors. What is funny is that Nokia maps actually has my street on their maps where all of my personal Garmins don't. Excellent, although I am going to download Google maps as well.

And I am not quite sure what all of the bad press about this camera is. It is the best phone camera I have ever had. I am coming from the 1.3mp in a Razor so maybe that's it. But I took some indoor pics in low light and they came out excellent, no purple or green tints like many have reported. Love having a flash.

If I had to pick a gripe it is that I don't have quite the bars I had with my razor in certain locations but no big deal. I am in a very rural area with no 3g unless I travel 20 miles away. But call quality is great.

Still playing with it. Can anyone tell me how to check which firmware I do have. I seem to remember it being *0000# or something similar. I know it is in this thread but didn't want to re-read this 300 plus pages again and a search didn't reveal it.

This is a really nice phone and a keeper for me.

Thanks
Sammy

Sorry if this is hijacking this thread, but can anyone explain how to do this? I'm on T-Mobile as well, although on a N82, and i have been a little underwhelmed with battery life lately.

Just wondering if it would help for me to adjust the network settings on my phone to GSM-only as was pointed out. Will this disable any connectivity in my situation? Or does it not matter for T-Mobile users entirely.
