*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

I'm not going to be jumping the E71 band wagon because if its got US 3G, good possiblity Rogers may pick it up. They picked up the E62, wont be surprised if E71 is picked up too.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but i heard that the E71-1/3 does NOT come with NAM warranty. Therefore, if there is a fault with the device and you are located in NAM, you will not be able to send it in to nokia for repairs.

Actually Nokia are making a huge profit without NA.

It's companies like Motorola who are suffering losses in NA, and this is probably due to a combination of poor carrier attitudes, plus most consumers only want to pay US$20 a month and get a free phone, a set of steak knives and a salad spinner.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!

Even "Third World" countries are financially more attractive to Nokia. That's not ignoring NA; it's focussing on where there's a decent market.

Smaller than the dash??? WoW!! Now that's small. The dash had that 2.4" screen also. I love hearin' all you guys gettin' excited and raving about the e71, but I'll be takin' a pass on it. Now the e66?. That's still a maybe but I think it will be a bit too much like my n95 (to justify $500 price) and that has an awesome 2.8" screen. Gonna hafta chill for awhile.

On my E61i, the "Secured Connection" option was set to "No" get around the certificate problem. I just did it to get around the problem since my work email did not have too many confidential information in nature.

Any more news on release or any new E-series devices? Seems Cebit and WMC both were a little disappointing for me since no new E-series devices were launched. I'm dying for a new E-series device...think I'm going to get the E90 for the time being.

If E71 gets FP2...than I'm going to guess that it will launch sometime after the N96. That's still a quite a ways away. If the E71 gets FP1. Than the only difference will be size compared to the E90......

Yup, white backlight on the keys, screen is the same brightness as N82's screen (which is slighly less brighter than N95) however it's still very bright and I dont have it set on full brightness and have had no problems using my phone under ANY amount of light. Also, this phone is quite awesome under the sunlight as well and everything is clearly legible and easy to read.
