*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Yeah, at first I tried using it instead of selling it. Then after a few weeks I got sick of all the Windows Mobile trash. I really miss all my Symbian apps and the simplicity of the OS. I might even go back to my E90.

Also, my gf bought an E51 off these forums yesterday and I got extremely jealous with how inferior my HTC felt in comparison (for more than double the price). Heh.

Youre welcome. There is a mobile version as well. The link is on their website.

I like it because you dont have to register like a of stations make you do to listen to the stream from their website.

I like when i am out of town on business, I still listen to WSB Atlanta to hear the local Atlanta news, etc in the morning.

Oh also the status light, since this has come up, pulses when there is nothing happening and the screen goes dim, but flashes repeatedly when there is an sms or call missed. Would be nice to have different colors but no big deal.

The clock is good feature though. When the phone is locked and the screen is completely dim, if you press and hold the D pad, a bright digital clock comes up to tell you the time.

I dont know why some of you feel the need to bash the iphone and iphone users. The iphone obviously fills a market need and is doing a decent job based on the numbers. I for one could care less about the iphone, but dont feel the need to bash it or its users. Everyone's needs are different. Lets discuss the merits of the E71 and even compare and contrast features, but do so in a constructive way.

If I were not part of this thread and stumbled across childish bashing of a device just because I dont think it is the right device for me, I would quickly dismiss this forum and thread as a group of small minded people. I dont think that is what we are, so lets not reduce this thread to trolling.

Welcome back Tkao!!

Well there are alot E71 EU/APAC owners now..

There goes Jonty, Rapolu, and other bunch of people that ordered from "Rose"

Well I got mine from WOM World as a trial..

Will still buy the NAM when it comes out!!

or they're selling it for T-Mobile customers, who know they wont be able to use the "US 3G" anyway.

Or because it's what's available right now, and they're trying to sell to early adopters who don't care.

If they won't open port 443 from the outside (And if they have Outlook Web Access then it's ALREADY open, the dorks) then you can still probably get to it from the inside. Meaning over WiFi or through ActiveSync on your PC.

Of you can see if BB Connect will work on the E71, but that's not looking likely at this point. And you'd have to be re-provisioned on the BB server.

Could you (or anyone else who has the opportunity to compare them side by side) quantitate that a little? For instance:

With the volume at 100%, my E61i pressed tight against my ear isn't even as loud as my E51 set just above HALF way and just held up loosely to my face.

Like it or not, if Nokia wants to sell handsets, it must make deals with carriers, at least now and at least in the US. I dont really like the model of subsidized phones, but it is the current reality. 97% of people dont know they can buy a phone other than the ones their carrier sells in their stores.

"i use 1and1.com as a hosted solution and when i send emails from my e71 they do show up in the sent folder in outlook on my pc"

So when using MFE the sent items still do not show up on your sent items on your desktop?

It seems inconvenient to add on a program like 1and1 while a WM phone does all for free. Also 1and1 seems to have its own interface. Not sure if my boss would want to do this option or support it. seems like 1 additional step.

I guess I wont get the e71 because it is not very exchange compatible.

That stinks- the e71 is hot!

They got lots of adverts about GPS phones currently all around buss stops and got couple of TV adverts about GPS powered phones possiblities and N78. One phone where they clearly had big marketing push was N95 with the "thing in my pocket" TV adverts and billboards.
I think they do okish job here(will most probally be much different even inside of Europe) with the marketing... Swedes would do much better job ;)

Nokia as a brand is strong for sure. By some study even the most valuable brand from Europe, but they could do better job with telling what those S60 phones can do.

NOKIA E71.......WHERE ARE THOU

I've been trying to find another QWERTY device, but haven't found any, except the BB I have. Just bought the E51 and really great device and now can't wait for the E71 to come out.

Anybody know why it would take so long? Isn't it the same software as as the E51, but hopefully with a better camera?
