*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Are these ppl listing the E71-1 (for sellers in North America) where the 3G bands on that model are useless to us here?! I find most of thses ppl actually wish to keep them but give lame *** excuses when its the bands the reason for the sale. Most are NOT listing the type model jsut the "E71" so ask questions to be certain.

Few though really are hooked on the BlackBErry OS though

The one I'm playing with has the small break where light shows between screen and keyboard but it's really not noticeable...I actually didn't notice til I read it in this thread.

The more I play with this phone, the more I really dig it...typing has become very easy, even with my big fingers. Corporate email/calendar sync great with exchange.

I'm still having problems with my GPS, assisted is turned on but it still takes light years to find a sat, must be my particular handset.

Overall this is definitely a flagship device, my only dissapointment is the photo quality...why can't E-Series get a decent camera?

@johnkzin originally I posted in full yet decided it clutters up the thread to those of us surfing wirelessly. Sry everyone. Still an incredible post.

BRAVO! This is by far the most detailed, informative, yet coherent post I've read in over 1 yr on these forums! And in no way insulting yet very thought provoking. The sad thing for me is this is almost as true on Rogers Wireless here in Canada. Sry I quoted it in full, but its very important & relevant.

Thank you.

Class ... definately does have. I think RCadden said it best. Especially the E66 and the shortcut keys doing blank when powered down. Thats just a nice level of COOL. THe next gen I'd like applications to be customized for those keys and an LED display to show the custom set icons ... OOOOOOO (or the shortuct soft keys to have the menu word on them increasing screen real-estate).

@ npaladin2000 , Thanks greatly for that info on how MFE works :D .

Well if we think of performance specs they're VERY VERY close.
* Bold bests it by having Stereo Speakers, DIVX support out the box, HVGA Recording at 30fps and by mhz much faster cpu.
* E71 beats it by lower costs per infrastucture (Exchange PUSH) to implement from scratch - but as we're seeing thats not too strong, yet. Also the VAST amounts of applications that appeal to consumers. GPS Maps stored LOCALLY! :D, a few more things as well.

But if we look at it in sheer NUMBERS ... the E71 will be massed produced, and probably a LOT more numbers than the Bold ... however who knows.

I know some of you want to see E71 next iPhone ;)

lagging phone is caused by having tons of text messages saved..

do you have above 1000 texts saved?

i purged my texts and the phone was faster

I would return it. The review unit I recieved did that, although it doesnt have any impact really on typing, it is annoying. When I purchased the E71-2 thats the first thing I checked. Luckily it did not have the same issue.

Jeez, I wish I could afford a $400 phone right now. I'd love to get my hands on an E71 the first or second week of July. ;)

Oh well, maybe it'll turn out well if AT&T ends up picking it up.

True. I see the N71's direct competition being the BlackBerry. The dealbreaker is that with the Nokia, a special data plan a la the BIS/BES plan isn't necessary...so you save $20 or so a month over the BB plan on AT&T at least...and no outages to worry about, either ;)

To each their own. I actually have used it when travelling. It's great for the the phone in the suitcase. Protects it from sock wars.

O man, predictive text in QWERTY!? DAMN! Now I'm really looking fwd to this release, and all my further purchases have been halted till this thing is released! That review gives a pretty good idea, and the fact that it has all the E90's features, I've got one big smile right now.

Damn you Nokia!
