*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

You do know you can get a free BES single user license from RIM. Google BES Express.

I keep telling myself that I have decided to pass on the E71, but if it comes out before the Bold, I am sure reading about you guys and your new toys will make me want to break out my checkbook.

And what makes you think that Nokia can't get the E71 out before the BB9000? Like, way before? The pictures from last week don't show a prototype, but a final version, so go figure...

So when a call comes through it's not automatically routed to the headphones being used. I've taken off my headphones, put them down and left somewhere with my phone; it rings and I answer, but the headphones are still within connection distance and the call is automatically forced though that. I have to reach back to the main menu and hit "Handset" to transfer the call.

yes, send me PM please. I'm all flustered I can't send my camera pics to my spaces acct. And cannot download my hotmail after firmware upgrade.

I got mine from rose today.. umm i agree with you when you see pictures everywhere the phone look quit big but when you held in your hand its like small baby... oh i am love with this phone.. cant wait to upload all the apps and get ready to show off.. i am waiting for mine friends to get their hand on iphone 3g so i can compare... with them..

Oh...ok got it.

Anyways it's still pretty packed full of new features compared with the E61i....I guess we'll just have to wait till tomorrow.

Each to his own, but I don't need a QWERTY device. Most of my messaging is SMS, and the T9 on the E51 suits me perfectly. I primarily use my E51 to check emails on a "pull" basis when I'm away from my PC, and I only need to respond to, say, 1 out of 10 of them which are truly urgent.

I went directly from an E65 to my E51. Apart from the obvious size and weight differences, the E51 has FP1, so it's GUI is significantly faster. I have fat fingers, so the larger E65 keypad was a breeze to use, but the E51 keypad is still extremely comfortable, with excellent tactile feel, despite having smaller keys.

Other E51 conveniences include using the * button to activate BT, and the dual use buttons for Contacts, Calendar and Messaging. I also love the "delete" button being right below the D pad, and the notification light is also very useful.

For me, the E51 is a keeper, and I plan to get another one without a camera to replace my 6120C as my destination phone when travelling.

There is a bit of irony in the fact that most of the people in the US who seem to be purchasing the -1 and -3 versions are TMobile customers that Nokia seemed to shun without a version to support their 3G. Many of us ATT and Rogers customers are holding out for a -2.
