*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Even more worth the wait than 3G, might be the availability of more convenient repair work given Nokias penchant for not honoring warranty on phones that aren't specifically meant for a particular market. These Asian phones...if problems arise, probably will have a tough time getting fixed here in North America...at least by Nokia.

If I decide on the E71...I'll patiently wait for the NAM version to drop.

WOAH!

* An important realization for E61i users upgrading to deal with is the screen size. Some 30% smaller ...

THANK YOU! That was exactly what I was looking for, I wanted to see how much of a difference there would be between my current e51 and possibly my new phone!

Wirelessly posted (Nokia N95-3: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95-3/20.2.011; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

very impressive. Nokia really does hear customer requests and complains!

Dogmann,

Let us know what WOM has to say about the keypad flex. I called our local Nokia Care and they had not yet received reports of this issue, nor did they see it on their own E71s. They suggested I visit a Nokia Care Point and have them take a look at it, see if it's enough of an issue to warrant a replacement.

We'll see if this bugs me enough to go pester them ;) Somehow I suspect they will come to the conclusion that the phone works just fine and there's no cause for replacing it.

Without any sort of network assistance, it can take more than a few minutes (5+)for the GPS to find a fix and you have to be outdoors IMO.

I know it says something about it needing four satellites for the first fix but for me, I need at least five satellites for the first fix after inactivity, IF I am not using network assisted GPS.

Maybe someone can help me here.

The Backlight staying on when connected to an external power supply?

Anybody know where this setting is? For the life of me I can't find it!
Let's say it's plugged into the Cigarette lighter, mine turns off after the preset timeout.

TIA!

Nathan

I dont think the screen is that tiny. Ive been using an N82 and it seems right for the size. But I guess I will have to officially get an E71 to make that call.

Now that they've released the E63, neither that nor the E71 will do!

I demand that they use the E63 keyboard with the flashlight functionality on the E71's body and include the 71's GPS, WiFi, etc etc

And add the E63's 3.5mm audio jack to it.

Call it whatever, let me know when it comes out, and I'll be first in line to get it.

Why is Nokia toying with me like this :(

As far as sound quality goes, when I went back to my Nano after using the N82 for a while, I thought it sounded crap. Nokias have very good sound quality for being phones first. IMO.

It is very common, and not only in the USA, but all around the world.. Its the so called corporate culture. Twenty years from now, the new generation will not do this and thats a bet! :disappoin
