*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Add my name to the hat here...... E71 looks very nice. The E51 is just too small for me. I am waiting for the E71 and BB9000. (and whatever else looks interesting in the meantime).

Newegg has a 30 day return policy. i ordered a E71 yesterday to try out, i have 2 wks left to return my iPhone and want to compare them.

order the E71 now and if you like the new Nokia's better then return it. $389 w/free shipping is a great price !

Well, the CEO rules I guess. I dont see anything wrong with multiple mobile platforms. I dont want to force my tech guys to use BB and I dont want to use a WM device. When they manage not to have a dead battery, they love their Moguls. I understand some of the appeal of a WM device though... lots of hacks, lots of software, but again, in the end, its all stuff I would play with for an hour and then never use again.

I believe E66 has this feature only ... unless its been tweaked for the light sensor I dont' think the E71 has it. Great Review ... looking on Youtube for the video post of it :D.

SWEET! Glad this can be customized, I hate the autolock on my SE K850i.

Your shi**ing me right?!!!! :O You figured in this day and age it WOULD! Is this just a limit of POP/IMAP email or is this also limiting the M4E & Good Messagin as well?!?!??

Wow this alone will move a few ppl over to the Bold. If they can deal with the extra data plan.

Thanks guys ... you just saved the E71 for me :D.

I believe some themes will change the standard app icons, not the 3rd party - If Im not mistaken. However, there IS the possibility to import your OWN icons and use them - I read a thread over on symbian-freak that shown how to do this, unsure if there is one here on HoFo.

I was just going to reply - I don't have that option! - because I was looking in Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Bluetooth.

Turns out you have to go to Connectivity -> Bluetooth, and then that magical 'paired devices' tab becomes visible. It's weird why it is accessible this way only. Looks like an oversight to me.

Thanks

P.S. I just discovered something I'm not sure if I like yet on S60 - you can only snooze a reminder 3 or so times before it doesn't let you snooze anymore. Good for constant procrastinators like me I guess... :)

You understand that t-mo 3g will not work on this device, right? In fact no U.S. 3g will work untill a nam v. is released and then it's at+t. only. I see no t-mo 3g specs coming for the e71 at this time. :(

The E71-1 I got from Rose has the following language settings: English, (what appears to be Chinese), Melayu, and Indonesia. The asian characters only appear on 5 keys: R, T, Y, F & G; for these keys a Roman letter, a digit and an asian character are displayed on the key. Otherwise, the keyboard looks exactly like that on the Nokia Europe site:

http://europe.nokia.com/e71

If you want a totally Euro keyboard, you'll probably have to purchase it from a dealer in a western Euro country, plain and simple. Personally, 5 asian character fragments on my E71's keyboard is hardly noticeable.
