*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

not really, navi-wheel is basically not the same as the traditional d-pad use, so when pople say the d-pad is good, they probably were referring to the traditional d-pad use, just my 0.2, i have not really used it y know... ;)

I have a question regarding the email capabilities of this device.....

I'm soon switching to a new job which requires me to stay on top of my emails while traveling and being out of the office which first leads me to look at a blackberry.
I'd like to stick with Nokia, but I'd need to sync with my company's Microsoft server (we use Outlook). So would this phone be as good with email, appointments, and contacts as a blackberry would be?

I don't have the E51 anymore, but at the time it did not creek....The Curve I have creeked on the sides right away and I had 3 and they all had the same problem....I like a little meat on my phones so the E51 just felt so solid because it was compact, but had some good weight to it.....Even the N95 to me felt hollow somehow inside. I much prefer a sturdy..somewhat weighty phone.

Had the E61i...but found it too slow and wide after using an N95. The slow part is the killer for me. I was at the Nokia store today again looking at the E90...really nice device, but do wish that it was just a tad shorter.

+1 to that, I've always wanted a QWERTY phone but found the E61i too wide, the E90 HUGE so this device will fix those issues for me. I really don't want to buy a Blackberry and I hate Windows based phones so hurry it up Nokia.

The pictures from AAS are not that bad at all....compared to pics taken with my HTC and BB, they are far better.....I think Nokia has been producing some pretty incredible cam phones lately that anything less than stellar, people are disappointed with.

I would like to see the unit in person before I commit to buy though, especially with the N96, Bold, and other phones coming out that I might be interested in picking up.

It requires an email address and password for it to work but a bogus email address works to get it working. You can upgrade to pro which adds features for checking flights and flight status. It would be worth it if I traveled more.

They do take care of clearing customs. I often get banged out $40 from UPS when things are shipped cross-border, even if there are no duties. If shipped USPS, you can avoid it.

Just added a new line for my wife..

Called AT&T and asked to request the unlock code.. They told me that I have to enable the International Roaming on my wife's line. I was like whatever and do what you have to do, and when they transferred me to the International Dept. I was told that I have to wait 3 months before they can enable my wife's International Roaming. So then I asked if they can unlock it using my line and they told me they can't because your only allowed 1 unlock code per year. So can't enable International Roaming No unlocking for my wife's phone. I have to wait 1 more month.

Dont act like nokia is the poor victim here, they have had ample opportunity to show they care about the US market. RIM has, HTC has, Apple has and Nokia hasnt. It is easy to see why the NA market ignores them.

I was really psyched about the E71 with T-Mobile 3g, but it is looking more and more like I will be deciding between the Blackberry 9000 and an unlocked iPhone 2.0. That isnt anyones fault but Nokia's. The E71 isnt groundbreaking enough to take this long.

Thanks for the quick response - this device looks so tempting but for some reason im not jumping at the chance like i usually do .... don't know if I have just grown up or if I am overly cautious do to my disappointing experience with the e51.
