*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

So, if you made any calls yet, how is the volume? Something Im curious about and no one has mentioned, does it have the same auto-lock feature as other Nokias, like the N82, for the kepad?

Yes, a 16GB memory card will be accessible but when I've tried to install Garmin Mobile XT on it, the whole programme will crash. However, it works on my existing 8GB card.

E90 in Dubai or here in Riyadh where I am at the moment is about U$710, compared to E71 which is expected to cost around U$600 on the 1st week it will be out... i hope with the release of E71, this will drive the E90 price even lower... take note people, that there is a new batch of E90 with a new keypad...

Thanks guya, thats where it was. I knew I saw it yesturday, but just couldnt find it a second time. I guess it'ss because I'm new and have only used S60 for a day now, but it seems kind of unorganized. Getting used to the keyboard finally, got some aps, and got my email working. I just wish the email would check more often than every 30 mins.

Oh and is there any way to change what is on my home screen? I don't want to keep looking at "setup new email account" if I already have my email setup, lol. I'd like to get a weather app on my today screen (already have one working, just not on today screen), and mp3 player on it, etc. Thanks for the help. It's growing on me

I don't really feel like going thru 300 pages ( :bulging: ), but is there something inherently wrong with this device?

I ask because I am seeing a significant number of people selling theirs within the first week of ownership

THis thought alone is HUGE! Dude does S60 allow you to input Custom Word List (like on BB) so you can type "ggm" so the text replacing it says "I gotta run, meeting". Or something similar? Correct me if I'm wrong but even on the S60 on 6620 had that ability - unless I used a 3rd party app. Small features like this that make daily usage smooth is why I'm leaning toward the bold.

I believe you are mostly correct with this. But Exchange 2003/2007 is NOT as powerful in offerings as what BES 4.1 (SP2-SP5) can do. There is a reason why RIM BlackBerry is KING with mobile corporate messaging - and its NOT limited to Email alone. Too many ppl have not realized this nor even tried to dig deeper. I think that Exchange 2003/2007 there are hidden costs involved - licensing ... we ALL know MS doesn't bundle some features (Enabled by default - this for sure is NOT) without cashing in on licensing fees to enable them - they didn't become the richest/largest software company for nothing. ActiveSync for PUSH is licensed so its part of the S60 platform now, and along with Active Directory provisioning, its enabled on the server as well.

That said ... I think those of you that prefer Exhange 2003/2007 (true push? I have to read more) in their corporate environments should look forward to MS' System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008!!! VERY good competition for RIM.

This E71 looks like a quality product so its going to be SERIOUSLY hard to make that final decision Bold or E71?!! But this E71 is growing on me. Just hope the metal is sturdier than tin because if its TIN just give me plastic.

PS: to those that think this new S60 Qwerty will hold them for a long (longer than 6mths) while, you're LYING! You know if something like the N96 in N82 form with American 3G HSPA or a slimmer E90 comes out you'll be salivating again. We're phone whores! Admit it. It's OK!

wow do all E series phones have the word pop up when texting? kinda like predictive text. and the menu animations are smoother and beefed up, kinda like a FP2 phone. also, from the home screen he was able to type 3 numbers and it searched like skyquikey. are all these things E series features, or is this new to the e71? i never used E series so i have no idea. but i'm getting this phone. and how about the mode function?

EDIT: and he seemed to say he knows that a 1700 mhz 3g version exists. i wonder if he knows or just guessing from the rumors.
