*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Is yours shipping from the Tennessee or the Socal warehouse? I placed my order a day after yours, but I'm guessing mine is from the socal warehouse since I am near it.

Well, an announcement and a quick ship date might upstage some of the iphone and Bold release, if Nokia can manage to do it before those other devices are released. But, time is running out.

Does anybody's E71 not show the little yellow box on the home screen when you have a new text message? Mine used to show it but it no longer does... It still shows the box when I have a missed call or voicemail.

LOL. My E71 did this when I first got it, do you have auto keypad lock on? If so, unlock other Nokia phones, when you press a button, it doesn't light up the screen and tell you to unlock the phone because it has that feature where you hold down the d-pad and it shows you the time and date. For about an hour I thought my phone was defective. Press the left softkey then function key and see if everything lights up again.

I don`t watch movies or play games on my phones. 2.4" is a tiny screen, 2.36" is even smaller. Not everybody likes to strain their eyes. Lots of business devices have bigger screens. If the smaller screens don`t bother you, great. I don`t have the eyes of a kid anymore. Small cramped kb's don`t work for me very well either. If it has t-mo 3g then that would be a plus. But shelling out several hundred dollars makes me weigh the features. and small screens just don`t cut it for me anymore. 2.6" maybe, 2.8" is better.

It looks like we are going a bit like in a circle here. It doesn't work just with QR codes, it works with Data Matrix codes as well (both are 2D matrix codes). QR became very popular online, but data matrix has been around for a few years and is on some electronics equipment, components etc. Another one that it works with is Semacode.

Barcodes are referred to as the regular 1D codes we are used to seeing in stores, but I don't think these are useful at all, even if readable.

P.S. I guess regular bar codes are really 1 dimensional :D
