*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

You know, this may be the reason for delying the announcement of E71. Most people already have E61 or E61i which are both excellent (slow, but otherwise excellent). No one, especially, the business professionals (the target market for E71) will ever upgrade to E71 if its less is major functionality like Blackberry Connect. Nokia will lose big time, and I think, they know about it.

Even Motorola released Blackberry Connect for Q Global (at least, AT&T/USA version) with days of its release to AT&T.

If E71 does not support Blackberry then I probably have to look for something else.

Why Nokia had trouble with Blackberry?

Thanks,
Tintin

I think if nokia and Apple want to really break into the large, corporate, enterprise market, they need a solution that will directly complete with the BB/BES solution. That is really the only way they are going to make large inroads into the B2B environment. Like I have said before, Id rather be RIM and have that market as my bread and butter and now try to market down market to consumers, than be known as a B2C like Apple and try to up market to businesses.

given that we have gotten off talking about functionality...i'll ask again -

can someone give a high level comparison of S60 vs. WM or BB for exchange / PIM sync functionality? is anyone using the E61 or similar for heavy push email?

Good review! Thanks for the link.

I think he's being a litte picky (ok - a lot picky!), but his points are valid. I would bet that after a week he'd change his opinion about the keyboard though.

This convinces me even more that this is the handset for me!! Don't care about music player, high end photography quality, high speed video or song library. I need a rock solid email / texting and web surfing gadget! GPS is just a great plus!

Hey guys I have a question. Not really sure if its E71 specific. Sometimes I get a screen thats white with the time and a blue bar with i think notifications in it. What is this? It's different from my screensaver. I like it but I don't know how to get back to it, it does it at random times too.

Don't consider your CEO's as being all powerful and mighty. Many in the past year have leaked way too many confidential information critical to the business they work for, insider trading, and left and brought a large force of employees along with them. Besides it would be FUN to lock down a CEO's Bold ;) . However, in seriousness, as your business begins to grow, and users begin to use the same functions you mentioned and then begin to request access to intranet sites, servers, emulators for AS/400, etc etc; you'll see just how well BES is and great it becomes. Mihal "Mike" Lazaridis, Mike Barnstijn and Douglas Fregin and their team ALL new what they where doing when they founded RIM, and much better at improving what is offered. I hope Nokia takes not of their marketing and pushes it for their E-Series line and Nokia Intellisync.

You know we should go on the trip to Boston next week..

"Evening Night with S60 Boston" June 5th, 2008

Maybe does Finnish Engineers behind these handsets have the answers for us. They might even have concept phones, E71, N96 with them for the guests to play with..

Or you never know, they might announce it there.. (hmmmnnn, Not really since its a S60 Event, Not Nokia)

I'm kind of disappointed that it wasn't introduced (unless they unveil it later this week). The only bright spot IMHO is that the new Nokia phones introduced so far have FP2. Which may mean that the E71 will also sport it.

Anyhow, looking forward to my next phone!

Cheers,

R
