*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

To be honest not sure what phone does NOT support the rtsp:// (real standard for streaming audio/video) now a days. also not sure what standard shoutcast (Winamp?!) supports/based on.

I dig the thinness of this thing, that parts sweet, but the screen is so small, I'd need new glasses  Those on at+t can enjoy 3g speed but I'm still waitin' on t-mo :sleepy: It sure would be a nice shirt-pocket-able device tho. But heck my n95 fits that bill and with a nice screen size to boot. Think I'll be passin' this one up.

hey appreciate the help man, but there may or may not be some miscommunication. just so we're clear, when you say its not like any previous e-series, that means theyve removed that feature? i get the whole notification bubble thing, but that just takes you to your real inbox.

on a last ditch effort to clarify...what i was looking for was actually the two lines of text that displayed your two most recent text messages and was visible at ALL times (whether the msgs were already read or not) on the active standby homescreen just under the 6 shortcuts. it was usually found just under your calendar notices (ex. "No calendar entries for today"), but above your "WLAN scanning" (if you had it enabled). it would look something like...

-6 Standby Shortcuts-
"No Calendar entries for today"
"12:00PM Lunch"
[Inbox:
John Doe Yadda yadda
Jane Doe Yadda yadda]
WLAN Scanning: Off

the part in [ ] brackets is what im referring to.

thanks guys, last ditch effot. if they got rid of that im pissed. without that thing, i probably would forget to answer half of my text msgs!

@ 01s0uljah ... A-GPS is usually only used on initial lock and uses about 4-7Kb only (at least I haven't noticed it being used after, could be ocassionally though). As mentioned above, it would take a lot longer to acquire signal without A-GPS, depending on the area (buildings' density etc.)

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E71: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaE71-1/100.07.76; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

They definitely will get dirty after extended usage. I'm loving my gray though :).

Indeed - if it is a fake, I would say its a pretty good one. Definitely looks like a cousin of the E51. Has the same metal case, thin depth, new function buttons... If it's a fake, Nokia would do well to imitate it. Very classy looking.

There is this thing called OMA. A compliant server provisions devices. It even deletes contents when the phone is lost. The entire Eseries has supported it. Too bad nobody seems to know about it.
