*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Man....just over at GSM arena and HTC Diamond, and the two SE UIQ phones are already in stores.....was hoping that E71 would be released ahead of any Sony Ericsson phones....but guess not. :( Maybe the X1 will even come out before the E71

I believe the reviewer was refering to ability/lack of; for multiple subfolders.
such as:
Work_Company (mailbox): Inbox, Sent, Saved, Deleted Items, (personal folders): Boss, Supervisor, Projects, Followup 1Day, Followup 1wk, Resolved, Archive, etc.

Then again did they have a corporate email account to test in-depth?!! Without mentioning the limitations, it shows the limitation of the review - not of their abilities but possibly time limitations or resource limitations.

Moreover, themes (providers' being a lil more limiting) give more control over the seperation (of SMS & MMS).

Not when it comes to filing those emails to ur offline folders; you'll need to BBDM for that. 1 thing I couldn't stand is when users setup Outlook (I don't recall the proper term for it) MAPI to dump ALL emails, calendar, etc into a duplicate offline instance. Then wonder why emails are disappearing when they do a complete sync pulldown off the Exchange server. But you ARE right, this is where the BB and BES are KING! Folders is NOT a problem on the BB.

Wow that sucks....what am I going to do for the next 4 months???? The X1, 9000BB, and E71 are the one's I'm most eagerly waiting for and if this holds true all 3 are going to be around that time. There's really no other devices that interest me right now.

I have to add one more good thing about e71.. the GPS its much faster than N95 i have try to compare both together from a cold start and i got gps signal much faster ratter than N95.. Next time i get hand on n95 i gone let you know the timmings...

ive tried numerous searches and cant find an answer. I just got me e71 yesturday, and its my first s60 device, i find myself doing circles in the settings. Anyways, I want to make conversations my right soft key, instead of the camera. I cant find the option to change the softkeys anywhere in the menu. I did find the option to change the other 3 quick launch middle buttons, and currently have conversations under short press messaging button, but would much rather it be my right soft key.

So in a nutshell, how do I change my right softkey? Thanks so much. Liking the device so far.

Nope.....you just need to have an exchange account and load Roadsync onto your S60 device. No need for another server like BES. It works similarly as WM Activesync and Nokia's MFE. Just key in the server address, user name, and password and you're good to go.

thanks. that was exactly what i was looking to find out. as a follow up -

do you have any insight into the messaging details as highlighted in the following section of a review from wirelessinfo.com. granted this is a review of the E66...but I think it may be the exact same interface for the E71 (i.e. a S60 thing):

Email Usability
The messaging program on the Nokia E66 includes both email and text messaging features, as is typical on S60 devices. When you open the messaging program you get a set of mailboxes. Each of your email programs gets its own inbox here and they all share drafts, sent and outbox. When you open the inbox you get a list of email messages, each of which take up one line....

** In particular the bit about "each of your email programs...share drafts, sent and outbox."

is this true - will my personal yahoo sent emails be intermingled with my sent work / push emails? Only one "sent" box?!

also - is there anyway to change the view of messages in the inbox? my WM device shows the "from" and the "subject" of the email on seperate lines (thus allowing one to see more of each...preventing them from getting cut off too much).

thanks for any insight on this.

:buddies: yay for comraderie and geek-names...

As I sit here with my N95-3 I can't help but anticipate the moment I can order an E71-2. I'm pretty sure my N95 knows that the end is nigh as both up and down of the volume rocker have broken off of the circuitboard (design flaw in my opinion) and the infrared cover part of the casing decided to fall out.

With my phone disintegrating in my hands.... I have one question for you:

Is it possible that the E71 camera's capability will be improved by a firmware upgrade in the future? (I can live with it..... but I could always be a little more enthused with the camera quality)

And I must add thanks to Rap, GeeKgal, and Jonty for keeping me entertained even when this thread has absolutely diverged from E series talk. :buddies:
