*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Beware if you buy this, it may not work with an E71. My guess is, it wont.

BB, moto and many other mfg that utilize a 2.5mm jack use a different pin out than Nokia. From my research, the BB pin out is the one that is most common, and finding a wired headset that will work with it is pretty easy.

I searched for a headset for my E90 (and found out that the E61 was the same), and could not find anything that would work except the headset that came with the phone.

God...with no announcements of this phone, this thread has now veered towards talks about oil....Nokia please help us here by releasing this phone ASAP :help:

I've found out the problem with the number formatting. Since I was just testing it and dialed a couple of numbers that have just a single number in the contacts it didn't format properly when dialing from the initial contacts list. However, once in contacts and if you pressed enter once more to get to the contact details, chose a number or otherwise and then dial through voip (internet), it formats as it should and works fine. I need to do that most of the time anyway, as majority of my contacts have multiple numbers (maybe that's why I've never really noticed it before, and might have been the same on the N95).

In short, it was a false alarm and all works as it should. I'm a happy camper :D

And the stelera wireless ISP express cards just happen to also use the same frequency band, so some people are buying those, putting in a T-Mobile SIM card, and using them as their 3G express cards. Only currently works if you're in NYC, of course.

Just check with your server admin to see if they support MS ActiveSync. BBs are ubiquitous where I work and people hardly noticed when our server group launched ActiveSync support last year. That might be the case @ your workplace too. The E71 does ActiveSync very well. I loved my BB 8310 until I got my E71. The BB's O/S feels so retro now :bulging:

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E71: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaE71-1/100.07.76; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

As of right now no VOIP application works. Atleast from what I've been told.

Ah, very nice. Enjoy the trip. I am trying to be patient for the new BB bold, but you guys are having all the fun right now. If buy.com gets in stock, I may pull the trigger. I guess if I could sell my E51 I would think a little harder about having an E71. Again, I anticipate the Bold will be my next daily driver, but the E71 could be nice to have as well. Im still hung up on that whole email thing, and I have always been less than satisfied with any telnet emulator that support 5250 data streams.... those are my 2 big hot buttons. I have the Rove telnet emulator on my BB and it works perfectly, but the same app on any S60 phone is a java app and the input it terrible. In order to enter data into a 5250 field, you have to move to the field with the tab key, press the center of the dpad, then enter your data into a buffer and press the dpad again to populate the field. It is very cumbersome to use. Im not ready to say never. On the plus side I could save $30/month on my data plans costs, so in some respects I would like the E71 to blow my BB away. AT the $415 price point, I MAY give it a whirl. The Bold not coming out until Aug makes me think that if I got the E71 now, I would still want the Bold in August....... I know you guys "get" how that works.
