*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

It's so easy to say the whole front of the device should be screen, but I bet it's harder to put in all the components that they squeeze into these devices than most people are meant to believe. Sometimes, having a bigger screen may mean skimping on another feature, like say GPS, and so the complaining continues.

Until you can make a design that can fit a screen that covers the whole front, while fitting GPS, WiFi, BT, GSM, WCDMA, light-sensor and accelerometer chips, we must learn to bite our tongue.. I know I have! :bash:

Besides, what about the 3G VGA video cam? :(

That review underscores what others have said about the phone's strengths and weaknesses - the latter being the camera and multimedia features. It also calls attention to the small size of the keys and the precision required when typing. That's really my main concern. After using the N95 and E51 with their wide, forgiving keys, I don't know if I would ever really adjust.

haha year right. it will be triband GSM. anytime SE comes out with a half way decent phone that i might wanna try out, they make it triband gsm. they must do it on purpose just to mess around. at this stage, how expensive can a quadband gsm chip be at this point in time?

i have some questions/issues.

1. has anyone used the podcasting app and noticed that it takes up ALL the RAM on the e71? i have apps closing in the background, and handy taskman showed only 4MB of free RAM left. i was only running smartlight, contacts and call log and web browser.

2. i cant get to google reader with the s60 browser! it takes me to the iphone version. anyone else?

Just got my E71 today! :clapping:

Is there an official website for the E71 or S60 for applications or discussion of great apps to put on this phone. I haven't had a Nokia since the 6682 and all my old websites are gone. :(

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

I love E71 so much.. but there are some problems with the firmware.. i really hate people who test them.. i mean why doesn't nokia hire some members from HOFO so they can at least test the product and software more proper.

Thanks for the insight. What particularly do you find more intuitive about the e71? Are you more of a symbian fan? I have never used a winmo phone so I'm not sure what it's totally about, but I'd think the ability to sync with outlook would be wonderful.

Besides that, I agree with you about many of the things with the x1a. I think it is beautiful and stylish, but I think you are paying a heavy price tag for dubious functionality returns...
