*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

www.shopblt.com is reputable. I bought my E51 from them, and they performed as promised. A nice feature is that you can check their ETAs easily. Those ETAs change from time to time, but I think they are legitimately based on their suppliers' info. I pre-ordered an E71 from them a few days ago.

BB Connect will be standard across all E-series. I used it, pretty neat, but screws up the attachments, and the 3.2AF seems to be the same which was on the E90, which took pretty neat daytime shots (horrible nighttime due to LED).

All in all, it's got all the bells and whistles and I'm looking fwd to it :D

cant change the softkey long press shortcuts. and i HATE how nokia removes the # silent profile on all NAM versions of phones. i miss that shortcut.

there is an e71 tips and tricks thread over at allaboutsymbian which had lots of random and obscure tricks that i never would have learned. cant remember them now though lmao.

If the bulid quality is as good as my E61i, it's going on ebay the moment the E71 is released! I'll go on record as giving a projected msrp of ~ $700 usd.

Honestly, this is what I think will happen in a hypothetical scenario.
I have a fictional E71, walking down starbucks(tim hortons if you will)
Me: *Makes call*
Stranger: Is that the new blackberry (or a blackberry)
Me: No, it's Nokia's E71
Stranger: Oh it looks just like a blackberry.

*case closed*

I can very well see that happening, and its going to only continue because Nokia's marketing is non-existent.

I hope Nokia proves me wrong with the E71/E66 though.

Me too. The Windows Mobile and iPhone don't do anything for me. Oddly, I'm quite the Apple Fanboi? in general, but somehow the RDF misfired when I was in range and the iPhone bug never bit me.

But we STILL haven't had an official announcement on the Nokia E71, so we're still guessing on what the specs will be. I came back to S60 from a 2-year Blackberry affair, but with the Bold hitting TMO soon I'd say chances are good that I'm going back. The BIS Unlimited data plan add-on is the same price as the T-Mobile Internet Unlimited package I'm currently using. If the Bold comes out with good initial reports, and if Nokia still hasn't announced the E71, that's that. I'll be going back to Blackberry. I just sold all my Blackberrys too.

I just ordered mine from Rose on ebay... Lets see when i receive mine E71. I am on T-Mobile so i dont think it does matter for me its 3g or not...

I am just waiting for T-Mobile to come up with 3g and i know Android phones gone be the first to support them...

No!! No!! No!! Nokia has started to become like Apple..

Launch then quick release..

Check this out.. Think of the E71 like the N82. It was launch and was said the availability was immediately.

When did we start seeing N82 1st adopters? Like 3 weeks after that announcement and that was a EU one.

Will be the same with this one. Then we have to wait another month to start seeing the US versions.

Trust me.. Call or go to the Nokia Store and they will just tell you nothing. No info on the phone or they might get your info and will promise to call you when the device arrive.

Apparently you got a bunk one. My GPS locks on in less than 30 seconds generally. I wouldn't be surprised if in tough situations without network assistance if it took up to a couple of minutes, though. (that's how long the N810 takes if you don't have the AGPS app installed)

fraid not, the guy from overseas electronics. I was in there friday to pick up a couple phones for a friend and asked him about the e71. He could be wrong, he could be right. I will have ti the day it comes out though, hopefully next Friday!

hi i know that the E71-2 has already had firmware updates but my updater keeps telling me that my version (100.07.76) is the most updated when i know that its not! any thoughts as to why or how to fix that?

yeah its kinda one of those phones where if you have used any nokia s60 phone, then you just know its gonna be rock solid no questions asked. i like reading the comments on endgaget and boygenious where people question the speed or this and that, then they reference the e61 as their basis. i understand, but we all know FP1 phones iwht faster CPU solved most problems.
