I totally agree. While I would miss the bigger screen, nothing compares to having a slim qwerty device that can slip into your pocket without a beltclip holster.
 
zadigre, thanks for the reply, but this is not what I am looking for...

There are 6 keys on the E71 - left softkey, right softkey, home, calendar, phonebook and mail.

Each key activates an application for short press and another for long press. There does not seem to be a menu item to configure the long press application for the left and right softkeys...I have the E71-2...does the E71-1 have menu options to configure the long press on these two keys?
 
Yes, will be doing some of those things......always like to have a new toy in hand for the trip though, that's just me.....

Going to see my in-laws in Quebec City.....So beautiful there....almost like being in Europe, but not. I'm sure we will be doing a lot of alcohol consumption with the French Canadians :hehehe:
 
I think I remember seeing in one of the videos that if you press the power button when the screen is "off"(keypad locked as well?), the backlight turns on, and you get a large clock, with the message icons and whatnot. Maybe someone can confirm that. Not really a big deal to me, I think that the light may blink differently for different messages (voice, text,email), and as others have said, there are 3rd party apps for the clock screensaver.

EDIT: It was actually in the all about symbian review. Towards the bottom of the page:

"One other innovation for the E71 (and its stablemate, the slider E66) is that when the main display is keylocked and timed out, rather than a traditional screensaver appearing, the display blanks completely. "But I need to know the time!" I hear you say. Simply press and hold the D-pad and the time appears in large letters, as shown here. A much better solution than the old non-backlit, small-fonted solution."
 
That's like $8.60 a gallon of diesel....but you do run longer. Regardless...we here in the US still pay less for gas than rest of the world....with exception of maybe Venezuela....I heard something ridiculous like they pay $5 to fill up a tank.

Rephrase: Does the E71's A-GPS require the network in order for me to use GPS without using network data transmission?

I really hope that this rumoured successor doesnt have an 8GB internal drive like the N95-2. Also, the camera should be nothing less than 3.2 with AF. I know it's more business oriented, but the fact of the matter is, Nokia should move passed 2MP. I dont understand why Nokia devices just cant come with all 3G bands like HTC phones?
