*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

I mentioned that: 'Nokia really threw me a curveball when they announced that the e66 has a built-in accelerometer for screen rotation!!!!! '

The only thing worrying me about the e66 would be the shoddy support in ways of firmware upgrades that the e65 received.

That would definitely be a winner! I find the E61i a little too wide for comfort, but it's hard to argue with that beautiful screen! Give me the E51 with a QWERTY keyboard and I'm all over it. I'm probably going to pick up an E51 anyway. Time to scour the Buy/Sell forum! :yummy:

Found out the problem.

For some reason they rejected it as a non-verified paypal account, however, my account is verified so they are looking into the issue.

Sorry to worry anyone.

so it finally happened. like 3 of you other guys on here, i also finally got word from rose that my e71 is now officially shipped and has an ETA of tomorrow morning (friday, July 11) by 10:30 AM.

wasn't quite overnight like i had hoped, more like 5 days (I ordered it monday), but i guess thats just plemix and importgsm spoiling me with their 24-36hr delivery times (depending on what time of day i place my order) :2thumbs:

The Music player is very good IMO for E-series....the camera, not good. I think the E61i took better pics without auto focus. I'm a little disappointed, but hopefully will be fixed with firmware update.

I don't know if it was this thread or another one, but somebody asked about the # key as a shortcut to change between silent and general profiles. At the time I was using an E71-1 and indeed, pressing and holding the # key switches profiles like on the N95.

I'm now using the E71-2 and can confirm that this shortcut no longer exists. Instead there is a really cool on-screen contact search that activates when you start typing letters in the home screen. I never saw that before! As cool as the silent profile shortcut was, I'd much rather have this nifty contact search.

Actually, I'd like to have both, but if I had to choose I'd take the quick search.

Yeah really! My E61i has the same battery and it provides long charging interval, but I have to charge it often.

But I get your point! It is so nice to have a long lasting battery after some real dogs I've owned!

its almost the same size, and E71 screen is like half of iphone... :goodness:

truly E71 is for keyboard people, and iphone is for well... err, people who hates buttons...

i like buttons... ;)

Sorry to hear that you are having issues. I don't have any issues with my E71. I have installed many apps & used almost all including the Garmin & Nokia maps.. and it is very stable sofar! You might want to get it exchanged.
