*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Where I am at its 3am so I will do it tomorrow though.
Should I delete maps and reinstall it

It worked fine earlier tonight, But I have installed conversations, google maps and some other software that came inside the phone. Now its all going haywire.

+1

Unless your day is spent, for the most part, watching videos, movies...or playing games...the BB-esque screen works great IMO.

Larger screen = larger device. Simple.

Don't forget the fantastic battery life of the E61i versus the N95 variants. I keep having it run down on me because I forget to plug it in to charge it for a few days if I have not plugged it in my dock at work!

Hi guys... future E71 user here... I'm this close >< to purchase a E71.

Currently my workhorse is an HTC Kaiser WIndows Mobile which is fine, but want something that can take me through the day without worrying so much about the battery. I was about to get an HP 910C just because of the huge 1940 mAh battery but it has so many bad reviews because the battery barely lasts a day on EDGE!

So this question goes to any E71 3G HSDPA users out there.

How much do I have to expect the E71's battery to last on full time 3G HSDPA with three push email accounts and constant on IM and moderate web browsing?

Am I gonna be able to go through the whole day with some juice to spare without charging in between?

Thanks so much!

Cheers!

Maybe it's a psychological thing, but I've always found Nokia's RF to be the best in class. I used the curve/8820 (8820 was getting better reception in some areas compared to my 8320 then) but the E71 outshines both of them.

Like I said, it could be psychological, but there is no distortion, abd the calls are clear/interference-free and the earpiece is sufficiently loud with a good range of volume levels.

I agree wholeheartedly. I also like how S60 is open. However, RIM has been making great strides with developers, having more and more third-party apps available every day. And OS 4.6 is a MAJOR advancement over previous versions. There's still a gap between RIM and Symbian, but it's been narrowed IMHO.

I've made a video of the notification light on the Dpad.

You're also able to play youtube videos with the builtin media player.

Notice the picture, it is the APAC version that was first available on Ebay (mostly from Singapore, at least initially).

I've heard of those guys before, and I wouldn't be surprised if they generate a decent volume of business.

Unfortunately, the phone automatically puts the settings in after I type in my email address and password. And then when I try to change afterwards I can't. I did check my setting in my yahoo account. These are the settings, and they are correct.

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication

If I can't get that fixed, I'll have to return my phone or sell it. I'm so bummed! I really like my phone, but I want it to notify me of my emails...:(

thank you for your help and suggestions! I do appreciate it.

I just received my E71-1.. I have just one word to say. It is simply "AMAZING"!! :clapping: The keypad is the best .. better than E90! :2thumbs:

I just got a call from my Nokia Priority dealer saying that he is getting his E71 stock in the next 6 hrs. I don't know which color and for how much, but I will find it out soon.
Fortunately or unfortunately , S60 sent me a loaner N82 last monday, so I am going to hold my E71 purchase till august, for the reviews and most importantly the prices to stabilize.

Well, it's fair to say they don't completely destroy the phone. They have been making things less pleasant at least since the 6230, though. The Cingular version of that phone crashed on occasion. Once I had mine unbranded, it never crashed.

The E62 is crippled in the hardware department. The software isn't actually that bad, unless you want to use Java apps, since you'll run into the annoyingly never fixed bug of Java network access doom. Well, other than the occasional random reboot, although that's pretty rare, and the much more irritating misfeature of going into speakerphone when answering a call and then locking up after the call is over that happens to me weekly.

I haven't seen an unbranded 6682, so I don't know whether it would crash less without the Cingular software or not.
