Yeah, they do sell unlocked devices. But because of the way the handset market is structured here, they're never going to have more than a limited market selling phones direct to the consumer. The carriers have basically turned handset sales here into a B2B business rather than B2C...so the carriers, being the "customer" get to dictate what's on the phones (hence all the locking and carrier specific stuff). Actual consumers don't know the difference, they just know they're getting a package deal in a one-stop-shop sort of way, which is appealing to our drive-thru culture. :hehehe:
Face it, Nokia is never going to be "big" like we want it to be. We're just going to have to walk around with our unlocked S60 phones and smile quietly, because no one is going to "get" how good they are compared to their subsidized $200 iPhones that they saw on TV ("But my phone plays music!"). For Nokia to become "big" they'd have to give up all we like about them. Then we wouldn't get stuff like the E71 and E66 anymore.
I don't see why they would worry about this 1 handset when there are plenty of non RIM qwerty devices that support BBC. There wasn't official support for the E50, and E90 out of the gate but installing certain versions worked fine for me.
Oh I thought you went last night. No I didn't call them. I'm waiting for the
NAM verison. By the time that comes out, I would've given birth to 10 kids.
If the E71 turns out to be all that it is, I'll be getting it for sure. I'm not sure what to do with my e61i. I was thinking of keeping it as a backup phone. But since I'll be using the E71 most of the time, is it best that I sell my E61i?
this is true, and highly likely the case. but is that really what you want to picture in your head? :bulging: ill just keep blissful in my ignorance and refer to rose as "her" for now. especially after rapalou once refered to her as "lovely rose" from ebay.....lovely....beareded.....rose.. :silly:
@Doni, are you able to launch NSU? I'm a little worried that it is because of the hacking that made it impossible to connect to NSU. I've never had any problems with NSU with my N95 8gb.
And the BB Bold will outsell the E71 10 to 1. I will get both, but the BB will be my daily driver. I wonder if we will see an E71 announcement this week. Will they have a presence at the WES show in Orlando this week? Maybe we will see an announcement from there.
Just got my E71-1 and it does indeed have the chinese strokes from 1-5. The earpiece volume is better than my N95-2 and the menus are very very fast. The leather case given is also quite nice.
