*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

I've never had a qwerty. Those who have, will this phone be suitable for one-handed use? It looks almost small enough to operate like a candybar. Will texting be a pain?

Sure I can hope right along with you, and maybe if we ALL voice this want, Nokia will hopefully listen. ;)

However, it seems you have only Helpdesk access to a BES installation; judging from your opinion - or its not fully utilized in your business. BES is VERY powerful, still offering much more (without endless coding & refinement from C++ code to the WM handhelds) than what MS is offering. RIM has roughly a 6-9yr lead on MS in this area and it truely shows. Just remember BES is not just for Exchange, its also for Lotus Domino, and Novell GroupWise (to be honest I only know of 1 company that uses this: USA's largest power station).

Well.... maybe. I did think that for a while because I thought the E71 would have been released WAY before the Bold. If I get one, I will be patient and get a used one, or if buy.com has a great deal. Im all about buying for value. What I really want is the seamless VoIP client that S60 has. Otherwise I think I will be pretty happy with the Bold. To be honest, I am still pretty happy with my 8820.

He means that none of the pictures of the phone are anywhere near in focus. All the pictures have either the background or reflection in focus --- not the subject. You can't even make out the writing on the label.

For example

hello

do you think one of you e71 owners could do me a favor and copy all of your e71's z: drive and send it to me ?! i would like to implement some of the e71 functions to my e90 !

you need to do the following to get access to ALL files of the e71 (usually you dont have access to z:\sys and z:\private) !

1 - install hellocarbide
2 - install xplorer
3 - start xplorer and go into settings and mark first 4 options to show hidden and system and rom
3.1 - dont close xplorer - use menu to switch
4 - start hellocarbide and via menu select menu1 - accept all questions with yes
5 - switch to xplorer and copy inxtallserver.exe to c:\sys\bin !
6 - restart phone
7 - install rompatcher and start it - select "dis.caps" from menu of rompatcher
8 - start xplorer and select all files from drive z: (make sure sys and private are accessable) and zip it to a file on drive e: (keep phone screen active during zip processing - push cursor keys from time to time before screen dims - otherwise xplorer might crash !)

the zipped file is what i would like to ask from you - upload via www.uploaded.to - pm to me or msg to this thread !

all progs are available via http://symbappz.googlepages.com/All.zip

all mentioned steps are done on phone - no pc or mac needed ! phone does not get broken - you can undo it in reverse order !

ciao and tx - i will let you know about success of implementing functions of e71 into e90 !

Wirelessly posted (Nokia N95-4: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95_8GB-3/1.2.011 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

i agree. Verizon is terrible when it comes to chopping the manhood off their phones. Att isnt that bad. At least ive never had an issue with what att does on their phones.

FYI I got mine from Plemix, and it came overnight with the 30$ delivery fee has the asian swipes (Not noticable).

I cancelled my shopblt after the 7-4-08 debacle and got this:
I just talked to a Vice President of Nokia about all the orders including yours and he advised the shipment with the latest revisions including 3G capability is shipping from overseas. He tells me no one else will have any prior to our receiving a shipment to send out. These are the facts from the man in charge of productions for Nokia.

FYI for you NAM 3g-ers.

I missed out on the N70, the E65, the N95, the N82 ... and I'm NOT happy with my phone choices in the past. I want this PHONE! But why Nokia no stereo speakers?! The ones used in the N75 would've been sufficient.

It will be as long as Exchange ActiveSync is configured and accessible from the Internet. That's only on Exchange 2003 and 2007 servers, so talk to your Exchange Admin.

Given that I'm my own Exchange Admin, I'm not worried. :D But the device will also support POP3 and IMAP if you need it and your mailbox has that available.

Well retail, I don't know...but at least we've at least seen from Crackberry.com that the 9000 exists for sure and have a small review up. The E71, although I'm sure exists, has been kept a secret with exception of a few leaked shots. Hopefully the information is correct and we'll see the official announcement this week.

Question ... is the screen material on the E71 same quality as the E51? My E51 screen got/gets scratches so so easy. I hope the screen material/quality on the E71 is different ...

@CdnDesi

The keyboard although being small on the E71 doesn't effect it's usability at all as mentioned by myself previously and others it really is one of the best on any device. You have to use it to fully appreciate just how great it is as it is both fast and easy to use.

I don't know where you got those battery life figures from but they seem strange to me, as the Bold isn't released yet but has a quoted time of 5 hrs on 3G and the E71 quotes similar talk times. They both have a 1500aMh battery so although the E71 may be better i seriously doubt it will offer twice the battery life.

Nah, it was supposedly "outed", and it was rumored to have been "secretly shown" to a "select group of people", all of which smells like bull***** to me. But there has been no official announcement by Nokia.
