The latest version of MFE is pretty comparable to Windows when syncing with an exchange server. You get mail, contacts, tasks and appointments all pushed directly to the device. You also get global address look up and the latest version will also let you accept/decline meeting requests. What you don't get is the ability to sync multiple folders (dataviz roadsync will do this), check free/busy time or html email. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll try to answer them. One more thing, you can't turn on you out of office message from the handset with MFE either.
 
Have we seen any indication that ATT has committed to carrying this phone? Or any carrier for that matter? I am thinking I will buy my Bold from ATT but if I get an E71, I will buy it unlocked and unbranded. Im OK with extending my contract, its not like I have anywhere else to go. Noone else has coverage where my 2nd home is, so its ATT for me.
 
That's very true....compared to most cellphone markets, the US is very unusual...we have these non-regulations that have resulted in neither GSM nor CDMA covering 100% of the (admittedly large) country, we have this weird carrier subsidization thing. When you think about it, or cellular phone model is even different from our own landline phone model, where you buy service from one place, and buy whatever phone you want and attach it to your service. That's how cellular works in most countries, and in those places Nokia is thriving.

But in the US, it the handset market isn't a direct-to-consumer one...Nokia has to sell to AT&T and T-Mobile, and is probably figuring THEY'LL market the handsets. And they usually do...except the Nokia phones. There's no sense in Nokia marketing them unless the carrier is selling them, and since 90% of phone buyers buy from the carrier....well....it's a pretty confusing market to get into. I give Nokia credit for even trying. And they DO tend to make a superior product. But the whole problem here is how to market the things, and that gets all twisted up with how you sell the things in the first place.
 
The S60 OS is much more flexible allowing you to create folder structure navigation, add plug-ins to the home screen, much more 3rd party software (edit Word documents, Excel Spreadsheets, create powerpoint slides, etc.), support for many more devices thru bluetooth (i.e. wii controllers, sync'ing, stereo headsets)

I already miss my E71. I had to give it back to WOM World. I never missed a blackberry. I like my E61 more than a 8830. And I love the E71 a lot more than my stupid E61. Not sure about the Bold tho.

I too personally prefer a smaller handset....I thought the E61i was too wide. I don't mind the size of a BB like device. IMO the E71 looks really nice.
 
I finally checked out the new black berry. I'm not too excited about it. What am i missing? The screen looked too small for the size of the phone and keypad. Though i know the e71 has a small screen too.
 
What do you mean Jonty??? I use exchange server and set it up as push and I get email instantly....like on my old BB. The only thing I miss on my BB is the built in Yahoo messenger and better layout of contact information (+ category sync)...other than that I'm not missing it. The curve looks so cheap sitting side by side with my E71 :D
 
and for a much better deal than every other online vendor too!!

and @ wocius, when did you pre-order? maybe they are moving down their queue and emailing folks. when i ordered, there was around 200 in the queue, now theres over 400.
