*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Just got my E71 today and it is one sweet phone. The form of the phone is deceptively thin and attractive. The size is perfect. I must admit at first i tought the keys would be difficult to use because of the size but they are well engineered and I have been typing away on the unit for the past two hours and no problems. Nokia has a winner with this one. Pure professional and very well crafted

The last general conclusion from the ATT forums is that any non-ATT branded phones is to use the Medianet. So if you had non-ATT branded "Tilt" (HTC Tytn II), you still use Medianet plans. My guess is that ATT will carry a ATT branded E71 which require the PDA plans and hopelfully there will be non ATT branded E71 with 850/1900 3G, and these non ATT branded E71s will get to use the Medianet plans.

BES is a server-side product that accesses the mail database from a local server that receives commands relayed from RIM's NOC. MfE accesses the mail database the same way Windows Mobile does..through Exchange ActiveSync over HTTPS direct. That's primarily client-side, though there is (obviously) a server component And Windows Mobile, while it can theoretically handle multiple folders, isn't always that good at it, especially over slow connections.

Basically, the Blackberry isn't doing anything...it's passing along instructions on what to do to the Blackberry Server program, which is doing the work. Exchange ActiveSync theoretically passes along instructions on what to do as well, but I get the impression that the instruction commands are larger.

E71's width is 57mm (compared to E61i 70mm), so the screen should be smaller but when you are looking at the pic you assume the screen size would be same as E61i maybe?

Wouldnt that just make it the E71? So you're just back here again waiting for it lol. My Black N82 finally came yesterday so Im happy for now. Hopefully it holds me over till the E71 shows up!

Wow!! (salivating)...the E71 looks great, and I really like the calendar layout too!! :)

Bold...or E71. This is going to be harder than I thought...

I hope AT&T picks it up soon so maybe the price will be subsidized...and will make it more affordable. I know it'll be a $600 phone w/o subsidy.

Why would people compare their N-Series phone to E-Series?

I completely understand your gripes.. I myself coming from an N95..

But my last E-Series phone was a E51 and I can tell you that the volume is louder than the E51.

So that's an improvement.. :2thumbs:

You're right - the Bold does have a larger keyboard.

But look at the battery life comparison:

Bold: 4 hours talk time

E71: 10.5 hours!

It's no contest! I'm a big fan of battery life - so that also weighs heavily into the decision.
