*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Wondering if anyone is familiar with the S60, 3rd Edition (9.2 OS) messaging system (what the E71 is running)--whether 'personal' email and exchange email can be put into separate inboxes (like on Windows Mobile) or if all email goes to the same inbox (like on old skool Blackberry OS).

I'd like to be able to have a separate Yahoo! email in box, a SMS inbox as well as an exchange (work) email inbox....

If S60 does not separate is there an application that I could download that would accomplish this?

Thanks for any advice.

I'm not sure what exactly constitutes a 'sale', but the lowest I've been quoted so far (from online Hong Kong retailers) is $310 CDN for an unlocked white E71. I was hoping it'd be lower, but here's where the in-store negotiations with the help of my local HK relatives kick-in ;)

George Knighton: Most of the used ones that I've inquired about so far are priced at min $275, so I figured I might as well get a brand new one. Thanks for the suggestions though!

Today some 6212 classic got announced.
I am tired of this waiting game and its taking a toll on my mental imbalance. :bulging:

Its become an everyday ( rather every hour) routine to check in various forums.

Are you still complaining about this? You were pissed before when the N95 was released and then the US3G version released months later. At least Nokia announced all phone models and frequency support up front this time. If people aren't going to take the time to do the research they need to buy the phone they need then that's their problem. They need to shop at the carrier to make sure that they get the phones that are supposed to work on the frequencies they need.

There are many in the US, and Canada for that matter, that live in areas where there is no 3G support and they could care less about the -2 version of this phone. There are also early adopters that will buy this phone knowing that it won't support US 3G. And at the end of the day, all versions of the E71 work on all GSM networks worldwide.

Also, supply and demand. There is a HUGE demand for this product and the resellers are going to sell the first product that comes out. If the E71-2 is going to lag then they are going to stock the -1 or -3 or whatever they can get their hands on to sell. If the buyer doesn't have the self control to wait for the correct version then that's their own fault. Tying the manufacturer's and resellers hands with laws just hurts the consumer's choice.

Samsungs BlackJacks seem to do just fine with similar width, not to mention the Curves out there - so I really don't see why it shouldn't make sense...

Do you mean to make a new paragraph? You just have to ush the "0" button two times in a row and it will drop you down a line. Do it again to skip a line.

hmmm...everyone seems to have the e71-1, is there a reason there arent more e71-3's in circulation? thats the one that importgsm carries, and possibly where i would buy it from

I would not want to buy it carrier locked only because it's going to extend my contract. I'd rather pay extra than extend my contract to three more years!

Somehow, it wasn't letting me open the install folder.. when i tried it would open the first app in the folder but it wouldn't open the folder itself..

It really depends on the GPS chipset and if there's data assist. For example, SiRFIII is still one of the most sensitive chipsets today.

I take about 10 seconds usually, and still less than 1 minute while moving.

ESPECIALLY if its only gonna have FP1. hell that should be a piece of cake for nokia at this point. they gotta be familiar enough with s60, qwerty phones, and FP1.

I think the only other business phone w/qwerty out there right now that has better multimedia is the E90...correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't mind, as long as the camera shots are as good as the E90's. The 2.36inch screen is a slight let down though....I was hoping the screen would be 2.6 or 2.5 at least.

Q3 seems like the release date and that can mean July till Sept :(

From Cnet:

"Correction at 10 a.m. PDT: The story incorrectly listed which push e-mail solutions the E71 works with. It does not work with BlackBerry Connect or GoodLink."

I'd really like confirmation on this.
