*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

i am pimping the E71...

those photos are from the London Launch... as you can see some of the accessories being shown sales-box items like, the pouch and the lanyard, so i really do believe that there are already E71 and E66 street-sales units, albeit these are being given or sold to Nokia preferred individuals...

Yeah...but most times spy pics and actual device look pretty much exactly alike. What was the last leaked device that considerably looked different? I can't think of any....

Anyways, if the consensus is that they are delaying possibly because of FP2, than what do people think the release date will be? Still considering if I should keep my E51 for the time being. If it's still a couple of months out than I will keep, but if it's going to be in May, than I'll get rid of my phone.

Like i said already dont take some of those comments too seriously. There are couple of members in MR forums that really know what they are talking about, but others just got these "sources".

I know the warranty is an issue but....if they are not honoring outside the market in which the phone was purchased........I'm sitting in the United States and my purchase of the Nokia product was made in the United States, via computer. This is an issue that has been fought in various tax venues....Where did the purchase actually occur in an online transaction?

And no, I'm not going to go whining to Nokia arguing the issue, I'm just making a point.

Update: It was the "yelp" app which simply redirected to a mobile site..that jacked up my phone. I uninstalled by creating a shortcut on the homescreen to the app manager to uninstall it.

It is called good messaging from moto, used for emails/calendar solution. Unfortunately some corporations use that for messaging instead of the default S60 applications.

Hi i'm new to hofo, so naturally i have a lot of questions.

i've gone through almost all the e71 threads here and a bunch of blogs on the trying to figure out all the pros and cons with the e71. I have a pretty good idea of what i'm getting with the e71, but can't tell what issues have been fixed since a lot of entries are from 08/08. i figured i would just list out a bunch of my concerns that i'm sure other people might have. Hopefully some of the veteran users will be able to answer them. for some additional background, i'm coming from a jailbroken 1st gen iphone 8gb and an SE W810i before that. Thanks in advance.

1. Is the native email app decent in terms of IMAP gmail as compared to an iphone. I just want to be able to access folders and move emails, notification every 15-30 min. I know a lot of people have been having connection and sending problems, not sure what the status is on this. also, i know that the nokia mail beta doesn't support imap folders. i also do not want to use the gmail app since there is no notification. i don't really want to pay for profimail (seems to get recommended a lot) or seven (maybe?)

2. youtube support. i've recently been reading that a lot of people have been running into youtube/realplayer issues from within the browser. should i just use skyfire (i think thats what its called?). do these issues still come up within opera mini?

3. are there still any reception issues, calls being dropped while receiving email?

4. how are the connections handled on the phone. is it priority based or will it connect to whatever is available? a)wifi b)3g c)edge (like the iphone?)

5. Does being on ATT affect any of the issues above. I plan on getting the $20 media max plan in NY. will my iphone sim work inside the e71?

6. Should i buy one off of newegg or ebay w/ live cashback. obviously the latter is much cheaper? More looking for negative feedback from ebay. newegg is always solid.

7. is the ad-44 worth getting if i want to use my own headphones and still answer calls.

8. is there a native video player to play mp4 files? i know of coreplayer, once again, the whole $$$ is bothering me.

9. not sure if anyone can answer this, but i read some stuff about unsigned apps. not sure how well the carbide thing works or any other methods of signing apps. just wanted to see what the consensus is on that.

10. do themes have to be signed too?

this is becoming a harder and harder decision for me. just because i want the qwerty of the e71, but some resemblance of the functionality of the iphone (mail, music, and video). its unfortunate that there are a lot of negative comments regarding the native mail app. its kind of a let down for a qwerty phone.

thanks again
