*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

I say screw the E71.
Screw the E90.
Hell, screw the E61i even.

Because something even sexier lurks out there.

The N810.

Yes, gentlemen - the tethered N810 surely has to be the sexiest browsing UMPC currently out there.

Sure, tethering's a minor drawback - but boy, is it ever compensated for by the surfing experience !

Of course, it's only a viability for those with a big data plan or constant WiFi - but if that's something you just happen to have, then it's more or less a no-brainer with something like say, an N95-x.

:D

No problems......I think that's probably right you have to test one out yourself. I think the Bold may have the better keyboards, just because it's larger, but IMO the E71 looks better. Also depends on which OS you prefer so I'd play with both S60 and the BB's before deciding as well.

Same here, it automatically activated Singapore and Malaysia, I thought it could be just me, since I had maps v1 on my N95, and it automatically transferred my licence to the E71 for Canada/US, based on my SIM card I guess. Great though, 'cause I have a 3-year licence that cost me the same as a 1-year now (excl. Mexico).

Whatever, I find it perfectly acceptable, but I'm not one of those kids with headphones in my ear 24/7.

They last days and days for my usage if I'm using them as a headset. They last all day for my usage as music headphones.

Personally, I have these things called 'speakers' in my car and home. They are connected to these wonderful appliances called 'amplifiers,' and they run off the car's (or home's) electrical system. They reproduce sound far better than any headphones.

Even my big-*** Sennheisers don't compare, so tell me why again would I need more than around 5 hours of music playback on my phone?

(When I fly, there are these wonderful things called 'books,' and nice quiet places called 'lounges,' and a boring thing most would call 'work,' that I'm too busy using or doing to listen to music)

i'm not sure i'm gonna like the qwerty though. i went to an ATT store today playing with all the qwerty phones, like the tilt, BJ2, treo, etc. and its just too many damn buttons on the phone lol. and they are so small, its like pecking at the phone with my hands. i'm really not sure about a full keyboard since i'm super proficient with T9, i feels its way smoother and easier and faster.

Was at the Nokia store yesterday as I was thinking about picking up an N-series phone cause the Camera is so bad on the E71......anyways I started to play around with the N95/N78/N81/N82 etc., and felt they all feel a little cheaply made compared to the E71.....The buttons feel cheap and plasticky and the body feels hollow somehow....I just don't understand why Nokia can't build all their phones like the new E-series devices.

Not that universal....sometimes BES is just overkill. Personally, I'd be happier with the mail component of the Intellisync Suite, but it's a bit expensive.

As far as Exchange deploying onto multiple platforms...you realize that's only two, right? :) Windows Mobile and S60? :)

Yeah...I'm getting tired of waiting for the E71 as well.....apparently the prepro's are out there, but I'm sure even it's announced it will take a little bit of time to circulate...I think quickest is Q2 but probably end May or beginning of June. Even so, without feature pack 2 it's just a hardware update..

That's why I got me self an E90 for the time being :2thumbs: Great phone and awesome screen...

If you do, keep us posted. Im not likely to switch though. Now that the BES is in place, it would be hard to justify investing the time to implement another solution. Its not like it will make us any more money.
