*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

hey I just got my e71and I love it!!! However, there's a few things that I didn't expect... First, the power button is red!! I never noticed it in any of the reviews. Also, I can't seem to get 3g on the rogers network. Is there a particular setting I am missing ?

So how can Nokia gain a good relationship with a carrier such as AT&T if AT&T itself decides to cripple the features on Nokia phones.

Put the E62 as an example..

E61 is root of the E62.. Now E61 is a great device with its WiFi, 3G, etc..

When AT&T grabbed the E61 and made it to an E62 they stripped alot of useful features of the phone..

And also as my example on my other post.. That's like me getting a job @ AT&T but they require me to cut my legs off.

Would I want that? Heck No!!

Its the same with Nokia... Nokia wouldn't want the N95 to be crippled.

I can understand what your talking about, and we consumers can do anything about it.

I (well not me, someone is bringing it to me tomorrow) received mine today one hour before the estimated delivery time. I will receive it and unbox it tomorrow.

This could be a thread all its own.

Here is a high level view:

BB: The king of push, nice integration with Exchange for all PIM, calendar, contacts, mail, notes tasks. You can file mail on the device. You need a BES server to really make it shine.

WM: Integration via Microsoft Active Sync. I dont know what is exactly involved, but do know some of the network guys in our company use it and it works well for them, no complaints at all.

S60: Support Blackberry Connect for push mail, but there are some limitations. I believe contacts and calendar are supported now as well. Need a BB dataplan as well as a BES or BIS server to connect to. Also supports a free program from Nokia called Mail for Exchange. It syncs mail, calendar, contacts and tasks. You cant file mail. It is not a bad solution. The native mail client support IMAP if IMAP is open to your exchange server, but that is only for mail support. Tkao2025 has mentioned Roadsync in this thread as well, but I have never tried it.

My personal favorite and totally no brain functionality is the BB. The interface is pretty much butt ugly, but it gets an A+ in my book for functionality. The new BB devices are suppose to get a facelift and support HTML mail.

Edit: poor spelling.

I heard the same abt the Fido thing. I think Rogers will pick this up as well, in that case, I may as well pick up this phone when it's carrier branded.

has anyone been able to change the display order of the sender's name in SMS screen? it always shows up as "Last Name First Name" even though it's displayed the right way in Contacts.
