*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Couldn't agree more. G700/G702/G900/"Paris" all using the same, 3-year-old hardware base of the P990, only with more RAM, but smaller screens. The X1 that's still almost half a year off and probably beaten by the HTC's Raphael in terms of release date, price and additional UI optimizations. The C902 that takes pictures that could be mistaken for typical 2MPx non-AF cam photos due to the ridiculous quality...

No, I don't see why SE should gain popularity any time soon.

But in the end, that's not really the focus of this thread, right?

Either something is wrong with your GPS or the A-GPS is not on, which should be on by default (it takes only 5-7KB for initial lock). I've tested mine quite a few times in different areas, and it takes just about 10secs from hitting the icon to launch nokia's maps to an accurate lock (that incl. the time it needs to launch the maps). I even get a lock in my appartment all the time, something I've rarely seen before.

I use the xt often without the data (I do sometimes use data for traffic).

when you say you can't get it to lock, does it recognize the internal gps or does it search for a gps?

I assume you have it installed on a sd micro card. the registration for XT is tied into the card - if not it wont recognize that there is internal gps.

I'm still new with all the edge/3g stuffs. I want the e71 but I wonder if 3G is really needed. I don't have 3G option yet (I'm with Rogers Canada) and I wonder if it is really that essential for me. If I ever need Internet on my phone, it would be for facebook, e-mails, MSN, Sports scoreboards and news. Would edge be enough? Does the e71 support edge? Will I pay less for edge? Will I be able to make video calls? I may get the e71 tonight, so this would help me. Thanks.

i turned it on accidentally when i first got the phone and i never figured out how to turn it off

would it turn off by itself even though i never transfered anything?

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E71: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaE71-1/100.07.76; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

manual settings though right? I have them down as well just lazy to set it up...

What DB are you refering too? The Good Server, or SQL?

Do a FULL (archive too) scan for Virii & Trojan on your PC, clear out your browser cache & cookies. Its working fine for me and never redirected. Something is wrong on your PC.

Not really, take a close look at the N95vsE71 photo ... its more than 3qtrs the size.

But it LOOKS so much larger in real life. From what I've heard.

I'm sorry if this is not in the right section.

I am having problem with getting a GPS fix on the brand spanking new e71. When i launch the nokia map the sattelite signal just flashes yellow and doesnt seem to get a fix. The Navigation applicaiton where you see the speed and all just shows waiting for GPS, if i go to menu and choose satellite status it will show me atleast 3-4 sattelites or even more but the application itself wont show the cordinates or anything.

For the landmark if i go and ask it to check the current location it just says getting the location and sits there for ages without getting anything back.

What do i need to do to fix this? is the GPS module busted on my phone or what?

I did get a signal yesterday next to the airport and that was the only time all the applications mentioned above showed me the data but thats all i havent been able to get a fix after that.

I am trying to get a fix outside tried in a open area and in area with soem buildings around.

If you got any idea as to what more i can do or how i can check please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Funaki

I own both Apple and RIM stock...and they are both up. RIM stock, as a matter of fact...is the highest ever, beating Nokia by a mile.

Nope, I could care less about Nokia as a corporation or about me as a stockholder. But, being a businessman, I just hate to see a company that can do so much (Nokia) consistantly do so little.
