Official Thread: Nokia C6

Even show that's not how it translates in the real world. Compare these to similary priced SE phones that got announced today.

Thought i agree with you totally on N97....and that's why i never even looked at buying it :)

the phone is a combo of the E75 and N97 in terms of construction...
looks like a charging port on the bottom of the device...
it may charge two ways just like the E75.....

Exactly! Looks a bit chubby but that is probably partly dictated by the materials and may also be fully intentioanal (to make sure its not as sleek as the Mini... ). Slider quality may be an issue but again may be "what you'd expect" at that price.

Any word on Tv-out yet?
I browsed through gsmarena.com stats, and seems that the only the 5800 and 5800 navigation edition have tv out. But none of the other 5000 series phones do.
But i've seen other stats missing from phones there too, so i'm not sure which ones have tv out.

LOL LOL LOL. And what do you think the margin on a US$250 (roughly what it's likely to cost after a few weeks) phone is? Let's be generous and assume its 25% = $62.50. You just wiped out 80% of it buy your little wishes. :)

He said N97 was a sales success but he was talking about the release firmware being the failure, not the hardware (which is what many hoped he would address).

Someone paying $1000 should be pissed. I only paid $450, though, and got a BH-703 with it. ;)

Besides, this thing doesn't have the 32GB of storage or FM transmitter, etc does it?

True, however, wouldn't it make sense for them to also put the weaker processor and the relatively small amount of RAM in the E5 before the C6 to increase profit -- or in the very least, spec them the same?

I understand why these are low-powered (but will still run decently well), but I don't understand the decision to gimp a device that has known issues with RAM in it's current state.

In any case, I should reserve judgment until I have read some solid reviews, though. Perhaps they have further refined the OS to run better on 128MB.

I thought the C6 would atleast have 256mb RAM, but clearly NOKIA arent serious. Well that does it, its either the SonyEricsson Vivaz or Satio for me: 256mb RAM, TI OMAP3430 +PowerVR SGX GPU, with quite a few games and the latest version of SPB Mobile Shell that take full advantage of the GPU. The C6 is a N97mini without the 8gb internal and metal housing realy.

They are countering it by increasing the virtual memory to 512MB instead of the 256MB that the N97 had. These devices are more than adequate for people in nations without internet access, don't own PCs and one of these Cseries devices will be their very first experience with email so everyone who's *****in is doing so for no reason, these devices are not for you at all whatsoever.

I never said that the price couldn't be bumped up right? If so, please link.

Moreover, you're dreaming in technicolor if you think the C6 costs $200. The estimated cost of the components to make the ipad is 260. If you derive a little, the little nokia probably costs 100 to make, at most.

All the phones he listed are touchscreen though, with the exception of the E72 which is getting replaced by the E5. E7 is probably going to be touchscreen with a qwerty.
