*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

I've re-mapped the PTT, MEdiaNet, Camera and GPS buttons using MagicKey, but haven't been able to identify the scan code for the external center softkey (activates menu scroll). Can anyone help?

ispmike, that's amazing! Thank you. I've never wanted to use the other solutions, on account of not wanting to have a process or two running all the time just to remap my keys. Now the program I never want to run simply isn't there. Awesome!

I am pretty sure the 6650 is the 3rd edition of S60. I think there is a version of Opera Mini that is signed or certified (not sure the correct term) that will only ask for permission once ever. Check Skyfire's web site, I do not think all S60 phones are supported. Good luck.

That's funny they mentioned a restocking fee... they didn't charge me a restocking fee... are you sure about that/ how much was it?... I love my 6267... I just wish the music player/SD card slot hadn't broke... Now there's a line across the bottom of my screen that won't go away too... and it's not covered under warranty so I have to live with its imperfections... I tried to get in touch with Nokia in Australia and Singapore but they were useless!... they just left me on hold on an endless loop for twenty minutes at a time until I couldn't take it anymore and just hung up... they also didn't respond to my emails... So I'd say get it, but just be warned that if you have a problem there will be no recourse... If my phone had never crapped out on me then I wouldn't feel the need to get a new phone... still deciding whether or not to keep the N79 once it arrives...

No update on mine yet. And what 'catcher' are you referring to - guess there's a whole other world of S60-hacking that I've not (yet) delved into!

Still reasonably satisfied with my 6650, I can use upto 2 apps at a time reliably (unless one of them is VERY Java heavy or memory-heaby - like Ovi etc). Fring runs on it OK as well. I mainly use it for traffic (google maps and sometimes the AT&T Navteq tool) and Last/fm or Nokia Radio.

I'm not saying that I believe it either.
Not like it would matter to me anyway, I just got my 6650 (from simplexity via Radioshack website, for free,) so even if it were unbranded, I wouldn't get one anyway, at least for awhile.
And by then, I'm sure that Nokia will have a newer, better S60 flip.

I just paired a new Bluetooth thingie to my phone, and I got two new indicator icons on the phone display. One is the Bluetooth logo in parentheses, which I expected. The other is a little car! I have no idea what that means, and it's not in the online instruction manual. Any ideas, anyone?

I'm not sure if I can talk about this here :help: but I dont know where to ask this.

As my phone is a PROTO, do you think I can change the product code to any from T-Mobile (6650) and then update the firmware that way?

Despite the phone is not branded, there are little problems that are starting to annoy me. Even Nokia PC Suite didnt recgonize my phone, and Nokia Software Upgrade tells me that there is no updated firmware for my model. I have V. 2.15 from 11-01-08 RM-400. The one from T-Mobile I think is something 3.3X from May-08.

If there is posibility to do that, do you think the phone will be locked again? And the languages? I need english and spanish.

Well I hope anybody could answer this, thanks and sorry for the trouble.

:)

The 6650 HAS a GPS chip (and it's a darned fast one too - quick locks with Google Maps and AT&Ts Telenav) that is assisted in its initial fix by Cell info (which I think is all A-GPS means, someone correct me if I'm wrong!)

I use mine with GMaps (fixes within 20-40 feet) and the Google Symbian Search app very often, and with TeleNav occasionally.

Oh - and as for Ovi Maps installation tot he phone, I downloaded the linked (above) Ovi Map Updater app, made sure my Nokia PC-Suite was fully updated and let the Ovi PC app push-install the Ovi Maps 3.0 over my pre-existing Nokia Maps 1.02. Smooth. Fired it up, let it complain about outdated maps & deleted them all, and let it get its first fix. I'll play with it some more over the weekend.

I think that might be a mistake. It doesn't make sense to me that they would put HSDPA on this phone and then limit it to 384kbps. Phone Scoop shows it having HSDPA 3.6. I get much faster browsing speeds with this phone than I did with my 6555 (which was 384kbps WCDMA).
