*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

Why must everything in life be so complicated?!... Why can't things just be simple?!... Well, anyways, you guys aren't gonna believe this one... here we go...
So, since I got the phone I've been using my stereo bluetooth headphones (Moto S605, I got off of Plemix, I highly recommend it... it has an FM radio too which makes up for the lack of one on this phone) and stereo bluetooth speaker to play the music... but today my bluetooth headset ran out of battery so I plugged in my (Nokia-branded) 2.5mm headset from my 6267 phone (since the 6650 doesn't come with a headset!) so that I could listen to my music... and then lo and behold it was only playing in one hear, in other words MONO... So, I couldn't believe it... then I remembered that I had a similar problem 2 years ago when I was trying to get my old Moto v360 to play through speakers... so, I came home and rummaged through my box o' crap that I don't know what to do with... found my old headset from my v360, plugged it in... and... it works!... Now, I don't know why one would work and the other wouldn't... they both have 3 bands around the connector part... I guess this is some sort of scam on Nokia's part so that you'll have to buy a new headset?!... Can anyone else confirm this?... SO, looks like I'll be using my Moto stereo headset from now on, HAHA... whatever works...

UPDATE: Also, when I try the Moto headset on my 6267 it only plays through one side too, so I guess there's two type of 2.5mm headsets... funny :befuddled

I'm not sure you'd want Tmobile firmware, they are very controlling and crippling when it comes to phones, at least Tmobile USA.

I don't think you can debrand to tmobile anyways, due to the difference in 3g frequencies of the hardware.

Reinstalling those apps to your memory card does not free up your phones RAM, it only frees up your internal memory.. ie. more room for games and apps. When my phone boots I have 20 mb free ram and 30 mb free on my c: drive. The only thing I keep running in the background is JB Taskman.

Ontario, how did you get MagicKey to install. I have been unable to sign it. I have signed and installed other apps just fine, but it won't let me sign or install MagicKey. If you installed a hack, can you point me to the one you installed.

Thanks...

Thing is, I can set my 6650 phone to allow me to install unsigned programs, without hacking it, but it won't allow me to install MagicKey even with that set. I've installed other unsigned programs. [Go to Menu/settings/config/applications/app. manager. There may be another way to the same settings, as well.]

I could get the same result with Tracker, I just don't need all the other things Tracker does, so I was hoping to use MagicKey. It may be hopeless; I've been balked at every turn.

If I'm not mistaken, you need a 3g SIM in order to use 3g services, so your old SIM might have been the wrong kind. Hope that it works for you.

Changing the subject... Has anyone tried using Mobile GMaps with this phone? I tried it yesterday and it could not get the GPS position while Google Maps was getting a fix just fine. Tried both stable (1.39.17) and devel (1.41.03) builds and had the same problem with both.

Not in the 6650 Fold from AT&T. However Nokia Internet Radio works fin on mine.

I'm guessing a FM radio tuner was in the one sold in Europe thus the confusion.

Look, this has been covered over and over. There is NO debranded software available for this phone because you CANNOT buy a unclocked, debranded 6650 from Nokia, THEREFORE no debranded software is available.

What were you running that it crashed all the time? The only out of memory I've got was when I tried to load the Sportsline football score tracker using the default browser (Opera was fine).

I've pretty much raised the white flag to removing AT&T apps. Most of the time, it's nearly impossible to remove provider bloatware.

One caveat about MagicKey is that it will not start automatically if you reboot the phone. Although there is an option to "start on boot," it does not work on this phone. If anyone figured out how to do autostart, let me know.
