Does anyone know what could be causing this:

On my second TV (the other part of the dual-tuner) when I turn on the TV, and do the "press select to continue" Bell message thing, sometimes it appears purpleish and weird colors just for a minute or so and then it goes it its original blue (I mean the guide, top info, etc.) Also it freezes up sometimes when I turn on the second tuner so I have to go out into the main room and unplug the receiver. Also, on both TVs after about 30 minutes of not changing channels or touching buttons the sound starts cracking and stops. I'm having so many problems with the 3200 receiver. Should I send it back with warranty or is this normal?

They told me re-settting the programmimg would not work they said set both receivers to transponder 13 and turn off for about 15 min and it should update, just froze and I had to unhook cables and hold on button for 10 sec.
I guess its easier for them to just send equipment, seems they are good at that as this is my 4th since June last year, Yea for warranty.

I have been as unhappy with Expressvu as you all seem to be.I downloaded the fix just as I told you.It is sunday and no freeze the Interactive button even works. Call and ask for a senior tech Expressvu know how many times you have called get them to do as I have explained and watch tv.
P.S.
No one has ever offered me any sort of replacement the techs I have spoken to all had confidence that v 107 would fix the problems and it did.

Fist of all these receivers use internal Nagra-2 access cards that are a chip mounted inside the receiver. There may be a card slot but this is only for later if they had to upgrade there security. That Bell access card you have can not be used with this receiver since the present Dish 322; Bell 3200 firmware will not support external access cards at this time. Next there is NO way to force these new revisions of receivers to take a firmware update from another provider. These receivers were designed to be hack proof and there is no way to circumvent these new security measures even if you wanted to use them legitimately.

The people at Bell your talking to have no idea about any of the tricky technical stuff. They are just there to say yes and activate receivers... however you're not going to get very far with what you have and Bell.

Wow JoWhee, They called you back! I guess the threat of court got them to at least do something! I called a week ago and left a message for a supervisor to call me at home.... I'm still waiting!!! What a joke BEV's customer service is!

Good luck with your court case! Let us know how it goes.

P.S. I just noticed the other day that my 3200 is now at v104, so look's like they have released it again. Is this good thing? Time will tell.

W;)W

How did you get 107 to download... I've tried everything posted here and still can't get it to download. It keeps locking up. Watching the Super Bowl tonight I was getting really pissing me off with it freezing every 15 minutes... followed by Bell's new stupid commercials with the 2 Beavers to just add insult to injury.

So is the only way to call Bell? Maybe the 2 Beavers can fix it? I guess I

Does this mean there won't be any software upgrades available for the 3200 anymore? I purchased one in November and it actually works alright. I did notice that the last update completely shut off the interactive TV feature. That means this model will never have ITV?? What a load of crap!! Did DISH kill their version of this receiver?

Call ExpressVu up and have them send you another unit, this is not normal. They will send you a refurbished unit and if it has scratchs on the cover just replace it with your cover it's just four screws.

WW:)

The thing is Water, mine was always trying to take the update... I would find it in the mode with the green line... just waiting. It had some kind of glitch where it could not save the new download.... it would wait for 20 minutes then reset it's self. I was really getting pissed at it.... finally I found it at 104 after 2 weeks of it trying. They must have had alot of problems with trying to get receivers with 103 to take the update so this is why they fixed that in 104.

With the 3200 you get two remotes. One is IR and the other is UHF so it works anywhere in the house within reason.

You run both inputs from the dish to the one receiver and then use the houses' existing coax cabling to go to any other TV's.

For example, my big screen/home theatre is in the basement along with the receiver and this is hooked to the main output of the receiver with the S-video and audio jacks. I use the IR remote with this one. The second output is hooked to my existing cable jack by the big screen. I flipped any splitters in the cabling system around so that the signal will travel to all the other cable jacks in the house from the basement. This means that all the other TV's share the same signal. I simply take the UHF remote from my livingroom TV to the set in the bedroom and get to watch satellite without the need of running new cabling throughout the house.

Now if they would only get the thing working correctly I'd be content.

RG6 is always better then RG59...

Are you missing any channels? Maybe Bell isn't transmitting on those transponders.

Don't go near the silver interactive TV button on the remote. It locks up solid if you try to go back to normal viewing. Besides, the "interactive TV" is a complete joke and BEV should either revamp it or just ditch it.

Anyway, that's my main gripe.

I spoke to BEV tonight about my 3200 and I've been "assured" that the 3200 has temporarily been taken out of circulation until they fix the software issues. He said they were working on the 5200 first and now that they've got a software update out for that model they were working on the 3200's issues.

I guess unless I'm told otherwise, I should believe him.

We'll wait and see.

By the way, mine works fine except for the ITV problems which has been disabled until they fix it.

Effectively ravco and bigz89 received v104 machines without programming - this is why I stilll think that wiping the programming is the quick fix.
From posts over the last 10 days or so, Expressvu have denied this works, but the only reliable fix posted on this board seems to me the one that reciptrap and I were lucky enough to get. Whilst others have posted since then on failure to update with Expressvu input, I do not see it mentioned that this approach fails

All the other approaches seem to fail , at least in the short term - resets, reconnections, power off etc

The memory dump got the search working but still no caller ID for me. It's like V103 is nothing but V102 with a bunch of things removed.... for now

Had my 3200 for a week now ... found a problem with the iTV thing [thanks to the kids] ... it locks up the IRD, you can't get back to watch'n TV without a reboot. BEV support has confirmed this as the current firmware is still beta :-|

If you have problems with the 3200, you don't need to unplug the AC to do a hard reboot. Hold the power switch in for about 6-10 seconds and wait for the LED's to flash off & on, then release the switch. Sit back and wait, the IRD will do a complete reload / reset ... the same as pulling the AC power.

And for any of you who know Bell / BEV / Mobility [or even Bell World] employee's, have them advise you the next time there is a friends and family sale. I purchased my 3200 for $119.99 & 6100 for $279.99. It's nice to have a friend in the business [I'd insert a copy of the last sale PDF, but I don't know how]
