I had a recent recording just show up as black.

I hit the guide and the system "woke up" but my tv show / recording was toast.

I have all these issues with my new 3200. I called BEV and they said the unit's hardware is fine, but the software needs to be updated. But they couldn't tell me when it would be updated. I'm not happy with this unit, since I have to reset it once every two or three days. Should I just wait for the updated software or should I ask for a new receiver? My guess is that if I got a new reciever it would act the same way. Anyone else have a 3200 which doesn't have these issues?

Thanks,

W :( W

I've disabled updates and leave the set on so at least it wont crash every hour.

Been happy with mine, odd issue once in a while, but it seems work fine other wise.

Got my set up running yesterday afternoon, I want to do some further tuning when I'm not standing in direct sun for an hour :) Still hit 83 right away.

Run a tv set up stairs showed my wife the controls and that was that.

The 3200 seems a little slow to respond, but over all it seems to function well.

I can see why people like the dual tuner PVR unit, but TV is not that important too me.

The reciever did update itself to v104.

RPTV = Rear Projection Television

I know the 9200 is a HD PVR but it has the dual tuner feature that I like in the 3200

The screen saver (Bell Box) should disappear and there will be a progress bar from what I remember. Before starting the process, make sure that TV2 is off, no blue light. If this still doesn't work, then it's possible that your unit's number is not in the list to get the update yet.

At least in the past, I have been able to prevent attempts at updating (& therfore crashing) by
1)disable auto update of guide - thjis has the effect of "turning off" both tuners at 3AM, and leaving you susceptible to crash
2) make sure the blue or green light is always ON - ie dont turn "off" from the remote screen that is fed by TV2 to keep blue light on

The only prob with this in the past, was that you would have to wait for guide to DL every 2 days

of course, you dont get update with this approacj

whats with waiting a month? are they bringing out another software update??

I would like to get the caller ID working on my 3200. Does it work on anyones 3200?

Anyone having this problem?

It happened again. I went record Amercian Hot Rod on Discovery.
Check the tape it was black. The unit was off, but set already to discovery.
Its like it does not wake 100%

I'm thinking of 3 solutions.

1. Just leave the reciever on
2. Change the channel
3. Record a 30 min show on a diff channel before the one I want.

Ideas? Suggestions? Help, this is truely annoying.

Thanks.

THis issue of them adding receiver number in batches in order to allow download - you seem to indicate this with authority, but how come I have never noticed this with any other receiver I have owned - and I have owned several different receivers in the past
In the past, whenever i have seen it listed that that an update is avaialble, if my receiver hasnt already taken it, I just turn receiver off, and it then the update usually comes within 10 min or so

After a year and half of ownership I have been relatively pleased with this receiver. There has been the occasional hard reset required but lately it has worked well. The functionality of running two displays at the same time from one receiver continues to be the main selling feature for me. Any firmware updates are a bonus.

Just checked mine... the caller ID doesn't work with v103 and I know it didn't work on v102 as well.

I guess we should expect another software update to fix this along with the other problems with this IRD.

You want a bet the 9200 will be full of software bugs too? LOL!!!!!

But they rather get it to market and make $$$$$$ first... take care of the bugs later.

If you are an existing sub it is impossible to buy these units anymore. Bell no longer has the receivers without kits and they will not sell you a full kit, even though they are the same price. Believe me, I wanted to add a second unit to my first 3200 and the guy at Bellworld was on the phone for over an hour and talked with all levels of CS to no avail. So far I have been happy with Bell's service but some of their policies are seriously stupid.

The Dish Pro Quad is a self contained unit which has two LNB's and switches build into it. So all you have to do is connect the 4 LNB outputs to four different receivers. It uses a different method of communication between it and the receivers which is not DC voltages. When you perform a "check switch" function with the 3200, it recognizes it as a "DP Quad".

The DP Quad is not very common in Canada and is not offered for sale by Bell, so I thought that maybe that's why I'm having issues with the 3200. Is it possible that the version of 3200 that Bell sells doesn't fully support the DP Quad?

Anyway, these 3200 units are still far from perfect and I've let Bell know my displeasure with it several times....

We may have a method to do this - basically that suggested by Reciptrap

I called in around 10.30PM last nite to Tech Support, got thru in about 6-8 minutes.

Gave tech a brief outline
Firstly the tech informed me that at least for the West Coast (outside of 5AM to 6PM EST) TEch Support was an emergency service only - this is teh first time I have heard this, as up to now, Tech Support seemed willing to tackle (or mess up) any problem, albeit without the help of Level 2 and 3, who seem to only work the above hours

This set me back a bit, didn't ask what was an "emergency" - ?$50 blown on PPP wrestling with a non-working receiver

Anyway I went on to explain the contents of this thread, and that the only solution I felt worked was the Reciptrap soultion - amazingly she actually listened to this, without the usual "what's your signal strength" "each receiver needs it own wall power socket" etc. that usually goes on

She didn't seem specifiaclly knowledgeeable on the 3200 issue

Then I asked for what usually would be unachievable without doing it their way - could she reset both 3200's? - entoire reset with loss of channels

"Yes - will do this" - I take back all my complaining

Turned off one receiver with off button, other with remote
40 minutes later receiver A had 107

The other receiver was in a bedroom, and I had just turned it off with remote but left it unwittingly on the Golf Channel - this one was still at 104, but now had no channels. Cahnged it to channel 198 ,and set transponders to 13 on both tuners, turned off with remote - 90 minutes later it had 107 also

BTW I unfortunately did not watch the screen(s) during this process, so I cant comment as to whether the usual "downloading software" progress bar appeared or not

So this looks like this might work reliably - she did not give me a ticket #

So must admit I was wrong on this one - Bell did come thru, with some help from this forum
