Personally I would rather see the money spent on research to improve spaceflight rather than dumping billions into using the outdated methods we have now just for the photo ops.
 
I'm not against innovation, by all means, develop new technologies, but don't throw away what works UNTIL you have something new to replace it.
 
It's not like they own mars if they put a flag up there. America doesn't own the moon. Who cares where China puts a flag?

I don't think you understand how far behind the Chinese space program is either. Hopefully they get that unmanned mission to mars by 2033 as they've planned.

Other countries are passing us technologically because we have an awful educational system. Not because they are spending more money.
 
No, it's not. Their point is that Obama is all talk, not that he wants to put resources in manned flight down the road.
 
I have exponentially more faith in the accuracy of artificial computer robots than I do with humans.
 
Perhaps these astronauts should look into the X-37b. Just launched the by the air force.
