If China didn't we may as well start WWIII and I'm going to start digging a deep hole.

But initiating a nuclear strike against SK or us would lead to their own destruction wouldn't it? Isn't that the main determent from even using nuclear weapons in this age.

Any American/Western involvement would likely be primarily focused on providing support (especially air and naval support) to South Korea. With those assets, South Korea doesn't need a lot of help on the ground. Of course the nuclear factor creates a great deal of uncertainty, but that's the case regardless of the presence or absence of Western assistance.

It is but can we really trust NK's rational decision making?

I'm not really familiar with SK's military but this was an informative post thank you.

The Obama administration has no interest in restraining the military ambitions of North Korea. Our leaders and diplomats have been on a 2 year foreign policy apology tour and there's no reason to expect it's going to change in the next two years. Our foreign policy is a clusterfeck of spineless commie supporting faggotry.

IMO, if NK wipe Seoul out with a nuke or radiological bomb, then the US should respond to an the death of up to 30,000 US troops that are stationed there ... with a nuclear strike on Pyongyang.

I doubt, however, that Obama will actually do it though.

There won't be a war. We are talking about the Obama administration here not some warmongering freaks from the Bush administration.

A war with Korea wouldn't need to involve ground troops any time soon. If they attack us or one of our allies, we bomb all of the military capability and maintain control of the airspace. Let one of the locals worry about what to do with the place after Kim is painted on the side of a palace-crater.

That said, we have plenty of troops in Korea.
