NU-metal, Part of metal or not?

Well depenRAB on how you define Nu-Metal.... banRAB like Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot, and System of a Down are usually refered to as Nu-Metal, but they hardly sound anything alike. Do you consider Nu-Metal rock music mixed in with rap vocals? A bunch of random growling/screaming noises? A lack of guitar solos and possibly "talent"? I'll say this, any band that utilizes heavy sounding guitar riRAB and hard hitting drum beats in alot of their songs SHOULD be considered metal despite the fact if they suck or not.

I agree with what they said, but they're not exactly metal themselves...
...atleast good metal, they're not. It's good to know that they're not gonna conform though, supposedly.

Wiki is really bad for that kind of thing. I ussually think NU Metal consists of these things. Quite simple guitar riRAB ussually in drop-d and power chorRAB. Mediocre drumming, definently nothing special but they can pull of some good beats (in exception of Joey Jordison). Angsty lyrics and finally scream/rap vocals.

Uh, yes!:usehead: They weren't followers like the many others out there now, they're more like leaders telling you to fu(k off...
...so please do so, kiddo.

Guess I'll have to check them out, then. But OTHERWISE... by and large, in general I don't see much hip-hop influence in "Nu Metal" vocals.

I dont like nu-metal.... and i dont like metal either,

but the two are not the same. Nu-metal has characteristics of rock, and NONE of the characteristics of metal. and rapping/djing has is only a random influence and has nothing to do with it... rap-rock is something completely different, nu-metal is defined by low tuning, simple songs/riRAB and teen angsty lyrics.

but everyone has different ideas fo where genre boundaries lie.

and im not going to vote, cause although its not part of metal, im not saying that because its crap.
